My horn arrived today from Willys Acres.
I need to make a simple mount for it.

Are you going to mount it on the firewall in the same manner as the wartime and early civilian models?

No , it won’t fit on the firewall with the way I have the fuel filter plumbed in next to the carburetor. I’ll mount it on the drivers fender forward of the fuel filter.

I got up early to drive my daughter to work. She’s a baker. Didn’t feel like going back to bed so I went to the shop and fabricated the horn mount.

It just needs some paint and it’s good to go!

I woke up early today, not sure why. But it gave me a couple hours in the shop before the kids got up for school. So I tidied the shop and decided to finish off the underside of the seats. I can’t stand the look of stapled upholstery under the seats so I made some aluminum panels to finish them off. And you can’t even see under the drivers seat (but I’ll know)!

Also I found this cool old aircraft annunciator panel on Facebook marketplace today. I’ll wire it for 6V and mount it on the jeep just for fun. Don’t worry, I have no plans to cut a 4” hole in the dash board for it. I’ll have to get creative. But it was just too funny to pass up!

Thanks LR47

I got the last of my parts painted today.
Had to pull the jeep out of the shop to do it so I could not resist taking it for a quick zip up the street.

My wife was lucky enough to be the first passenger.

How did you mount these lights in your headlight buckets and what did you use for a lense? I’ve considered maybe cutting part of the back of some old dead bulbs I have around and somehow inserting the element in

TateC,

I got these conversion bulbs from Amazon. They come in different sizes but the 53/4” fit right in my military style buckets. They are built to accept an H4 bulb, LED or otherwise.

Hope that helps.

I really like them.

Jon, how did the Green Machine run on its first voyage out of the shop? I detected not a bit of smoke from its tailpipe in that video.

We went to the top of the street and back about 1 KM round trip. I just could not resist.  It ran flawlessly. Good acceleration, shifted nicely, stopped well. No complaints.

I plan on putting the new springs in tomorrow. Then, I just need my vacuum wiper motor rebuild kit to arrive so I can get the wiper installed. Also I need local COVID restrictions to relax so I can have my friend Ken back over to help finish the wiring.

I need to have it inspected before I can get plates for it as I imported it from the USA.

My guess is it will be on the road in the new year.

got the new springs installed today. One more step closer.
The jeep sits a little higher, the amount of lean is reduced and the suspension has stiffened up.
I made different shackles to hold the springs. I didn’t like the U bolts hanging down so far. Now they are tucked up nice and high and the springs have some skid plate protection.
Over all I’m happy with today’s work.

Before...

After...

New springs made locally at Dendoff Springs..

Less lean...

The new Sparton horn is in.
I like the position, look and sound.

Beautiful work as always. Your builds are fun to follow, Jon. And that paint color is growing on me!

I made a little side project today.
A hitch mounted jerry can holder.
I’m quite happy with how it turned out.
Easy access to the tailgate.
