How much pressure can you get into your 3.35 gallons?  How will you keep water out?

The system on my crawler, when paired with a York compressor would see 100 psi on a regular basis. Now that the compressor unit is smaller and less capable, I toned it down to 75-80 psi.

I think this system is a better design. My hopes are to power it with a York....once I find one. So my plan is 100 psi.

As for water - I run all the air through a water separator before it goes into the tank. I also plan to install two drains on the two main parts of the tank, so I can drain as needed.

I still need to install ports for the air inlet, the blow off valve and the gauge. I have an idea to create a manifold for those items. Hopefully this weekend in can complete it.

I have a hand pump LOL

Greetings Andy!  Just finished several days reading your build threads and wanted to say AWESOME SKILLS!  I am both inspired and intimidated at the same time!  I am still trying to sort out just what to do with my collection of misfit flat fenders but you have given me some ideas.  Thanks for sharing!  By the way, does your garage maid visit just once a week?!!  Nice shop!

Weld Porn .... Ha! That's great! LOLLOL

Thanks all for the positive feedback! I appreciate the comments/compliments. I've been fortunate to have a few great teachers along the way. And yes, I have a service come Swiffer the shop weekly. Ha! Wink

So body mounts.......body mounts.....

There were a total of 5 bolts holding this tub to the frame. The rear of the tub was, well, just hanging out there in mid air. So I added a total of 5 more mounting points. I added a mount to the driver side, under the seat area. Then I added two more mounts to the rear of the tub. The rest was just taking advantage of existing holes that lined up with frame mounts. So maybe overkill, but it will be plenty secure now.

Also created a mount for the grill. I'm adding a sheetmetal nose, as the flip nose won't do flipping things due to clearance issues. So we hung the hood and the grill. Now I just need my fenders......which happen to be several states away in Massachusetts. Fail.

This weekend will likely be spent blowing this thing back apart so I can blast and paint the frame. Then I can start final assembly. Doing brakes and exhaust from above is so much easier.

And yes.....that's a hockey puck! Pretend you don't see that.

The sheetmetal looks a little rough. But it's very straight and true!

1" thick hard rubber spacers, sometimes also known as hockey pucks, work great. I use them all the time.

Couple little things from last weekend. I finally mounted the Hi-Lift. I used a hood pin kit doohickey that I had for a project that never happened. It worked out well! I forgot what a pain in the butt mounting one of these jacks is.

And just so you all can laugh at me and tell me "I told you so"..... this is the current state of the tub. It started with a simple investigation of the wiring harness. Shockingly (sarcasm) it was a mess. So i removed the whole harness, the dash and the column, because in my head that made sense. I pared down the harness and regrouped the sections. So while hacked up, it was fairly new and more than usable once we showed it a little love.

I think the only person that believes me when I say "it's a quick refresh" is me.....HA.

And finally for your amusement today - how NOT to build a steering column!

Poop pipe + some PVC bushings + a closet flange = awesomeness! LOL Point given for creativity!

spent way too much time......on too small a thing.....

I built shock mounts for the rear. I was trying to cheat a bit more shock travel. But with tub clearance issues, I maybe got and inch or so.

Speaking of tub....it's removed and set aside. Time to wrap up some details before we go to blast - provided I can find a blaster.

I built this manifold to complete the air system for the rear bumper. I added 4 inlets/outlets. I likely would only use two - one for inbound air and one for pressure relief valve. But it's nice to know I could expand the system if I wanted. I may build a similar manifold for the front in the event i want to tie that into the systems.

I just blasted my own tub in Ridgefield after getting quotes of $1200-$1500.  If you are willing to cover the cost of abrasive and a compressor & fuel (about $600) I could help you save some cash.  Pm me sometime.

Going prospecting!!

Well not really. But I did want to have a place for all the requirements for beach driving in this area and the Outer Banks. So here we are! We are near done with the rear set up.

RotoPax are mounted. Two gallons of gas and one storage locker. I can also stack more fuel if I found the need. Shovel is mounted. I simply split some tubing in half and used it to secure the digger. I want to find a spot for a jack base. I have a couple 12x12 chucks of 3/4 ply that I have used for years to meet the requirements. I'll figure something simple out.

off to the blast man today.....with a little luck.....

Mrs. Nofender picked a paint color last night. So paint is on the way. Fortunately, I finally wired up my compressor and will be ready to spray.

There is still some axle work to do. So i'll knock that out while the frame is away.

Oh it's neither exciting or flashy. She had mentioned one day she wanted to pick the color. Me....didn't really have a preference. Heck i was planning to paint it with the leftover pasture green. Ha! So she picked because shes a pretty cool chick.

note-I still didn't tell you the color!

MikeC, thanks for the kind words!

so nothing to do with this Jeep build....but yet to do with the info on this page.

Friend of mine picked up this near 100% original 1949 Chevy Sedan a few months back. He's had trouble pretty much since day one. He's had a few people look at it. He started throwing parts at it. But not being mechanical at all he was at wits end.

We started talking about it. I went and checked it out and tested a few things. He agreed to attempt to drive it over the next weekend. Of course it broke down and it arrived on a flatbed.

I got to thinking about all the talk on this page revolving around condensers and how even new they can be bad. So I took a condenser that I know to be good from the parts drawer and popped it in there. Boom! fixed! runs like a champ and no longer cuts out.

My friend Terry thanks all of you for the knowledge here!

I'll be keeping it for a few more days to make some adjustments and replace the water pump for him. It's a pretty sweet ride. Would not be upset if it were mine.
