I want to put lock out hubs on my Willys. What is a good brand name and how hard are they to put on?

Pull the dust caps off your drive flanges and look to see if you have clip axles or threaded axles before you order or look for hubs. If you have threaded axles you will need to find hubs that will work with them, also keep in mind you may need to reshim the axle float when you install the lock out hubs.

A bit more information please. Do your shafts still have a nut on the end or is there a groove for a snap ring? Some hubs won't work if you have that threaded end. Things get changed around so much on old Jeeps.

IMO, Warn's and Selectro's-as noted-are still the best.  That said, if you do have the early threaded axles, your selection is going to be much more limited unless you also swap the axle shafts out.

On my old MB I had Dualmatics. I never broke one but they were a pain to use, especially in the winter as those two levers liked to freeze in place.
Both of my Jeeps have Warn hubs on them and I went out to check my D30 next to the shed, yep Warn hubs. I went out to check the spare set in my garage, Cutlas.
Depending on what you are going to do with your Jeep, any hub will work fine as long as the spline count is right and we are back to your axle shafts, nuts or not?
I do carry an old drive flange in the tool box but nobody has ever broken a hub in our many years out there.

I have the axle nuts on the end of the shafts.

OK. Some of the vintage hubs allowed for that extra shaft length or people would cut off the threaded bit and cut a groove for the snap ring.
It's all up to you now. Sorry, I have no parts here to help you.

Don't cut the threaded shafts!  Swap in some later shafts and save the threaded ones.  It's an easy swap.  The old Warn hubs are easy to find.  I use a set of vintage Cutlas hubs because they look almost stock from 20 feet.

I didn't mean it to sound like that they should cut off the threads and I thought about it and I really do have about 3 extra sets of shafts around here. I just said what people have done in the past. I know those old shafts can be worth a fair amount depending on the joints on them.
Sorry tamnalan if I made you mad.

Hah!  I didn't mean to come on too strong myself.  Apologies myself. No worries.

Threaded axle shafts will find an eager market on the Gee.

I have two sets of Selectro hubs, one for each CJ3A. both my axles are long, with the threaded end. One of the set of Selcetros says "Heavy Duty" on it. Is that just marketing?
