Ok, all new parts for explorer brake installed. Shoes cables springs star wheels etc. How is cable held in place at firewall? Too much slop to make proper adjustment. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Should be a clamp on the cable that bolts to a little bracket.
See # 2 in this drawing from Sean's parts data base.

Thanks for the quick reply. No clamp with new or old cable . Think I can fab up a similar set up. Really appreciate the help
