Fuel dripping from there is an indication of a mixture much too rich, and could be the result of running with the choke closed, rather than the cause of the need for the choke. BW

If its happening after you turn the engine off, rather than while its running it could be your metering rod is out of adjustment. A book I got calls it boil over, basically if the metering rod doesn't seat after you shut it off, gas will get into that high speed circuit and percolate from the engine heat. Then it drips on the throttle shaft it runs out around the throttle shaft. Had it happen a few times, nothing like opening the hood and seeing dripping gas vaporizing on a hot manifold.

Your carb is most likely affected by one or more of the usual suspects:
A) incorrect metering rod adjustment B) incorrect float level C) needle & seat D) clogged passageways/worn jet orifices E) worn throttle shaft A proper rebuild will reveal the culprit(s). Edited by danover321 - 06 Apr. 2017 at 1:49am |

FYI, you will need a metering rod setting tool and a machinists 64ths ruler to properly complete the rebuild. HF has 64ths rulers for about a buck (if still available).
Also, here is a good resource if you haven't already found it: http://mightymo.org/Proj_Carter_WO_Rebuild.html Edited by danover321 - 06 Apr. 2017 at 2:40am |

Walcks has them. I'm sure others do too. I bought one, promptly lost it, then decided to send my carb off to Rick at Old Jeep carbs for a rebuild.

While cooling my heels waiting on the rebuild kit, i read up on the pcv valve. Found it dissaebled and found it complete but vey dirty. Cleaned and put back together. Running a little smoother. 8500rpm. And who's to say my tach is dead on.

If you got a 134 to 8500rpm and its still one assembly we need to talk. Thats about 3500 rpm over total destruction rpm. If that is what your tach reads I can assure you its not accurate lol.
