I've seen a few places that make the harness for the military version but not for the civilian. Anyone know if anyone making them. Otherwise I've got to find the right wire, old asphalt loom, connectors, etc. Any help is appreciated.

Did it have connectors towards the rear as it branched off to the taillights?

Have you seen this write up?
If you are not electrical savvy this would be a good beginner project to learn some very basic wiring skills and customize what you wish to do for the trailer.

I did see it. In just wanting the harness. I've got too many projects right now to take on another. Just wanting to get it on the road as quickly as possible. I have got an email into them asking some detail questions before I order. They responded saying getting ready for some show so will get to as soon as they can.

So I've been trying for a long time now some basic questions answered from the Vintage a Wire of Maine so I could decide whether or not to order from him. All I seem to get back are generic takes 8-10 weeks but never answers my specific questions. Phone always seems to go to voice mail, but that's a waste too. Has anyone here had a good contact with them? Here are my questions, maybe someone here knows the answers. I don't really want to make my own but may head down that road.
1. I assume you use the period correct cloth wire with tracers. (I gather this is a yes) 2. What colors? 3. Does it include the asphalt sleeve? 4. How many wires? Ground included? Full run ground back to the taillights? Optional? 5. The Arrow 41 taillights have the wire soldered inside the bulb socket, so is that end left bare? 6. How much excess is left at the bulb end? 7. Are there any connectors for splitting the wire to the left vs right, if so where and what type? 8. What connector, if any, at the trailer tongue? What was period correct for the civilian model? 9. How much length is left at the tongue end for connecting to the jeep? 10. Web site shows the T3-C harness as $95, not $110. (He did answer saying the website was wrong) 11. In stock? (Apparently no if takes 8-10 weeks) 12. Grommets and hold down clips available?

Bill Norris has one on his trailer so may be able to give you info.
I've yet to confirm connectors of the period but I think its either a single pole or double pole Cole Hersee lamp type connector and socket. Still looking for a the socket image |

Here are the connectors from my trailer. They were connected to the Arrow 41 on one side, but the other side was long gone.

From what I'm gathering, a single taillight was what was the factory normal. But mine had the second side hole already in plus the Texas DPS place said Texas requires both sides. Thus I'm going to need a 3 wire connector.

They were in the frame rail on the driver's side. If I recall, they were near the front spring bracket.

Mickey I will try to answer your questions the best I can based on the Harness I bought from VWOM. Please take into account that when I bought mine Joe still owned the company So I can't speak for the new owners I've never dealt or bought from them as of yet. Also Please look at the links that are attached to my other posts as there are pictures of my harness. Good Luck I hope this helps
My Harness is set up for 1 tail light like the original. My tail light is a repro for a model T & had Bullet connectors 1 Yes The wires look correct 2 one wire is all Black the other is Black with 2 red tracers 3 The harness has a knit covering on it but it's not asphalt like the Jeep harnesses its more like a nylon type I've been told that is correct. 4 There are 2 wires in the Harness as mentioned above. There is no ground wire as the trailer grounds to the vehicle once its hooked to it. & the tail light grounds to the bracket via fasteners & bare metal. (I hope I'm explaining the ground part correct) 5 I can't answer this one my 41 was missing 6 They asked me when I ordered mine what type of light connection did I want & Because I was using the repro with bullet connections I had bullet connections added to the harness end so I could just plug into the light. Continued from above post
7.They asked if I was going with 1 or 2 tail lights if there are 2 lights they adjust the harness accordingly. 8 I had them put the original Civi. Plug on the tongue end (2 Prong) then I had them make an adapter so I could use my military Harness to attach to my GPW. 9 from the wire clamp on the frame to the 2 prone plug is 32" 10 no answer 11 They were not in stock When I ordered mine it took about 5 weeks I didn't care since I ordered before I really needed it. the lead time is affected by time of year I'm sure. 12 The Grommets & Clamps didn't come with the harness. with 1 tail light it takes 3 Grommets & 3 Clamps See my link from my other post for grommet size etc. I bought mine at Ace Hardware. I hope this helps & Good Luck Regards Mike |
