Yeah Ditch Witch that about fits...
That's certainly a good thought but we don't have a lot of soft sand here in the Ozarks. I remember back after the Great Flood of 93 we had huge mounds of river sand to play in for a few years. |

I lived on a sand hill in SW Arkansas at the time and stuck it in the soft sand of the front yard.

Rick,
Do you have an update on the tires now that you have a few seasons on them? They look like they might be flexing better in your videos. Also have you decided on a tire pressure? Thanks for posting here and on youtube. Jerry

Jerry, no real updates on the tires, just what’s been in the videos. They have softened up a little bit, but that’s not saying a whole lot. They are still very stiff, just the nature of these tires on a lightweight Willys. Perhaps the same tire diameter with 15” wheels instead of 16” wheels might give a slightly better bulge, but I’m speculating on that. I’ve settled on 10-12 psi; anything lower than that and they are susceptible to popping beads. I’d like to run them around 6 psi. I’m going to be trying some things in the future to run with lower pressure, e.g. gluing the bead, maybe tubes, wrapping the wheel bead with gorilla tape, etc. Having said all that, I do really like these tires. They function pretty good, but mostly, I think they look good.😁👍🏻. |

Rick,
I love the look of you jeep with your new shoes. How much lift does your jeep have to clear those tires?

Rick, I was thinking about the same tire for mine. I'm still trying to decide if I want to keep the YJ springs or not. Have a set of non military wrapped springs I have gotten from a early CJ5, but not sure on the lift yet. Its tuff to find that just right set of tires for these old Jeeps. I also hear swampers have a new skinny tire, maybe a radial, but not positive, will have to check. I love the look of your Jeep and its one of my favorites in the video's.

Thx, Mark!
You’re right, finding just the right tire can be a challenge. Good luck and keep up posted on your project.

Now I see BFG has a new 750/16 tire. I'm running a stock F head in my new 1953 CJ3b and wondering if these would be better. I have zero lift right now with stock springs. Thinking of soft ride springs later with 5/8 inch body lift. I'm running 31 inch Eldorado MTZ's right now, but one has a problem with wear and you can't buy new ones to replace the junk one. Plus, that's all you can hear when on the black top is that tire. Driving me crazier than I am now.
The specs on the KM3 is 31.8 tall and fits on 5.5-7 inch rims. Right in my wheelhouse, sorta speaking. Edited by masscj2a - 14 July 2019 at 3:43pm |

I never hear any tire whine on the highway. My Rockeater gears are too noisy to hear anything else.
If you get a set of those new BFG’s, post them up, I like to see how they look and how they perform.

4WD has them $25 off a tire right now. Might have to do it. Love the swampers, don't like the noise. Was hoping they would come out with a skinny radial.

noise dosent bother me, whole jeep is loud... the initial flatspotting after sitting for a while is annoying, that at least goes away for the most part

yep, went ahead yesterday and ordered five new km3 tires from 4WD. Should be here by end of week. I have to find one more 16 inch KH rim. Will get some pics up as soon as they get mounted.
