My '48 has mis-matched front springs due to drama sometime long past. I picked up a used matched set for all 4 corners off of a '46 2a. The rear (longer) packs are 10 leaf. The fronts are 9 leaf. My '48 springs are all 8 leaf. The info on OEM optional spring packs is confusing. What do I have in the new used set? As far as I know, the new set is OEM. The spring clips are nice, of very stout stock, (maybe 3/16ths?).  Any issues I should be aware of making the switch? Thanks, Joshua

Why?  They aren't torque to yield...  I get the rolled thread vs.cut thread, the torque and retorque, the corrosion and local damage stress riser thing, the someone in the past may have heated or impact wrenched...

I've been reusing ubolts (with serviceable threads and no obvious outward signs of distress) for decades without recollection of one failing or loosening... just seems like the places that recommend always replacing them either make 'em, sell 'em or install 'em-

Curiosity is all.

I've never re-used a U-bolt.  All the ones I've replaced were obviously worn out and/or damaged or rusted away somewhere.  In other words, they all needed to be replaced.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable
