in anyone's opinion, is it even worth fussing with trying to get these to take some high temp coating or somethin? Or wire wheel the ugly off and slap em on?

Years ago I used Eastwood's exhaust manifold brush on coating on an old 1940 GMC truck I had. It was a gray color and held up quite well.

I have found some paint in a rattle can for painting fireplaces and barbeques, it's supposedly rated up to 1200° F.
If you can find something similar it may be worth a try. Mike

I have found that most of what you can get easily will only last a short time.
The Eastwood stuff seems to hang in much longer, but I've never tried it. I agree that if it's gonna be that good looking, you should try something on the exhaust, even if it only lasts a little while. That way you can get a few pictures before it burns off.
