According to the GPW serial number and date of delivery list in All American Wonder Vol II, page 187, 85860 would have been delivered (probably) before Dec. 15, 1942.  Some time between the 9th and the 15th.

Shadow, probably doing way more than I need to with the exception of the fuel tank openings ...MDJ was supposed to include top bow goodies etc with the body, but that didn't happen and this is a new body produced in 2017 and I of course had to purchase all of those items.  Fuel line tab(s), emergency brake spring bracket needed to be purchased and/or fabricated and then welded onto the bottom of the tub.  All the caged nuts with the exception of the two for the driver seat are on me as I'm a big fan and prefer bolts to screws for items like the trim rings ...also wanted a more robust solution for the spare tire mount.  The price of the tub delivered was $1500, great pricing because the dealer needed to clear inventory and was willing to deal so the trade off in a little extra work is fine.  MDJ spotwelds on the body were a bit too rough on the exterior thus the bit of body work.  The dry fit of my original windshield on the body was excellent regards reveal/fit and I will drop the body on the chassis next to make sure everything lines up before applying any paint on the tub.

Everything looks really good!  Bet that half track would be fun!  Seeing the tub reminded me about MDJuan windshield mounts on the side of the cowl.  Make sure the nuts are on straight by putting the screws in and see if they stick straight out.  I got one of theirs and had to cut and reweld the nut.  Most everything they make is wrong.  Even the inner windshield was not square and the divider was off center by a 1/4 inch.  Keep up the good work.  BTW my name is Jay Smile

JAY, (Mikes alter-ego) Wink  I new that from reading your excellent post, but this is how TBI works in my world, I see McG in your response and my brain goes to mac or Mike even though I know thats OL-Unrel name.  Too many concusions and and a Russisn mine in Afghanistan that introduced itself to my uparmored.  Every day is gravy!

The African Queen is a ball to drive if just a bit noisy with the center guide chatter and cross country she is very comfy.  On the pavement depending on speed she has a tendency to rattle your molars a bit.  But I love her dearly and she's always a class act!  WWII, Korea, Indo-China and Africa this lady has been lots of places, just wish she could talk.

The bolts were straight regards mounts ..must have lucked out.

Ol U, thank you for your service, ships are dangerous especially engine rooms!! ... great care from my VA here...and my civilian Doc.

Been working on my 42 Ford as I have a deadline on her...by end of May for a movie shoot .. one of several vehicles that will be used.  I did knock out a quick repair on my taillight, broken bolt fixed.  going to drop the body on the chassis this week.

One man show in the shop, so I had to come up with a easy way to lift and drop the body onto the chassis.  Ladder was a bit short regards reaching the beam in the shop, so I used a nut tied to some paracord and tossed it from the floor.  Then attached a couple of straps to my paracord and pulled thru and over the beam.  Attach the chain hoist and I'm in business. 

The body fits/sits just fine but as I suspected, the brake pedal cutout is out of whack as is the accelerator cutout.  Steering column and clutch cutouts are good.  Marked all so I can fix and I'll yank the body back off now.  Better to get it figured out before painting.

You probably should bolt the tub down and bolt the upper steering column in to make sure everything is centered.  It doesn't take much for it to be off.  How did the tub mounting points line up?  Curious about the juan tubs.  Very good to test fit everything.  Learned the hard way.  Don't assume a single aftermarket thing is right.

Yes, going to bolt it all down after making my repair updates to the stuff that was in my face.  After reading all the posts about MDJ stuff its better to be safe rather than sorry regards fitment, cutouts etc before any primer or paint goes on.  Its a hassle, but much less so than trying to fix it after assuming that a new tub will fit right. Confused  Overall, the tub lined up correctly with the mounting points on my frame.

Been working on my GPW project which is almost complete but I'm waiting for paint.  decided to work on my CJ.  Since my last update, corrected MDJ pedal holes, dry fit tub and bolted down in a couple of locations on frame to check allignment and dragged the body over to the house to prime and paint.   FAA gets bent out of shape when you paint in a hanger. 
Since its a one man show, leverage is my friend!  Anyway onto the saw-horse and a little ride with the primer gun.  Good sandable/filler primer and overall I'm happy with the body.  Have a few spots that will need some attention and I'll get to them before paint.  Its amazing how stuff shows up when you shoot that primer.

Been duel hatted and working on two projects at the same time.  Got my new Arizona title for my 1942 Ford GPW and plates today. Original title I had when I picked her up out of a hanger 24 Nov 17, was for a 1942 Willys. She had been sitting for 20 plus years and was in rough shape with lots of stuff missing and an engine that had not run. 

Now just some cleanup of a couple of paint masks, add two more to the front bumper (My star and HQ-1) and I need to let the old canvas top sit out in the sun a bit to loosen up. She is ready to ship out for the movie shoot, just waiting for the folks on that end to give me the word. Clap

Now for the paint on my CJ tub Smile

Red, Great Idea! I have the front tires off right now for new innertubes. Tires will be dropped off at the local tire shop so they can break the beads loose and then I can install new tubes. That will be done next week .. I'll move the "Queen" outside for a shoot then.. Jeep should still be here. Have to get the new track installed before Sep as she is going to a show. That is going to be a B!tch-Kitty!!

Working on my house and have not had any time to get at my CJ body until today.  In between rain storms I atacked the bottom of the tub today.
I am happy with the color!
