One other question regards spare tire carrier. . Does the carrier go mounted on the body with the support baffle up or down? Hard to tell from pics.

The tub should be flush with the rear crossmember. Don't know about the tire carrier. I removed the one I have. The body was rusty and the wood was rotted so it wouldn't hold a spare.

Changed out plugs and fuel injectors on my wifes 2006 2-3 Saab today. PITA!! While letting the engine cool down, decided to bolt in my headlight buckets and make the headlight wire harness for both buckets.
Also cleaned up and polished the chrome retainer and headlight trim rings. Looking at the pics, I'm not sure I like the chrome look. Maybe gloss black would look better? Soliciting your thoughts and opinions on the matter!!! |

Struggling to get my tub to fit properly on my frame! Couple of things I've come across. The first was that my gas pedal linkage was jammed up against the tub which prevented me from moving the tub forward enough to have the back of the tub even with the frame. Only needed about a 1/2 inch to line it all up. That throttle linkage bolts on the back of the block and is a bit*h kitty to get at ... intended to pull it off and straighten it out, but even with moving the tub back not easy to get a wrench on the bolts. I was able to slip a small wooden block between the linkage and the body and then slipped a pipe over the top part of the linkage and was able to bend it straight. picked up my 1/2 inch and after putting everything back together the throttle works nicely, clears the tub now and opens up all the way.
My next concern is how the front of the tub should sit on the frame. The cowl supports that sit on the frame, how do they sit in relation to "side to side"? The way the tub sits now with the brake, clutch and steering column are all centered in their openings. I fit the tub to the frame when I was working on it to ensure that the brake and clutch pedal openings were correct as this is a MDJ product. The brake pedal opening was way off as were the fuel tank cutouts and I made my repairs accordingly before priming and painting. The driver side support has about an inch of overhang on the outside of the frame. The passenger side is just the opposite. Looking underneath, all the frame mounts for bolting down the body line up with their respective hat channels and points on the body. Pretty much set to start drilling my bolt holes in the body, but decided that I should do the proverbial " measure twice then cut"! Looking for some advice or pics of the front of a Willys tub sitting on the frame. Thanks, Mark Edited by mkoloc - 08 Aug. 2018 at 6:30am |

I don't know anything about the tub not fitting but I do know that jeep looks great. You have done a great job on it. Good luck on fitting the tub.

Hesitated to post these crappy pic's but maybe it will help. The first pic of my stock 46 shows the angle from the toe board to the body mount by the crossmember(pass. side) The next shows the space between the firewall and the gas pedal arm all the way back. I'd leave the chrome rings (they'll look better with headlights) Hope this helps! Joe W

Back of tub shimmed with rubber mounting pads and its nice and level. Front next as its a bit off. Got my turn/park lights in today, so decided to cut out the openings in my grill and mounted them. They fit great, used a
1-1/2 inch hole saw. The mounting bolts even lined up with the original A2 park light bezel holes. Also threw in my headlights just to see how they will look with the chrome rings....daddy like ! |

Drilled out all my mounting points on the body and am ready to tighten everything down. Realized that I'm short one rubber pad for one of my rear body mounts. Ordered that today. Am also short a front body bracket. Not sure I had both of them looking back at the pictures from my teardown. Not sure if they make a repro, but Im going to try and find one. I can always fabricate one if I need to. Also installed my grill welting with the group pliers. Ready to pass them on to the next user.

That "front body mount bracket" was originally spot-welded to the toe-board gusset and bolted to the frame. They are normally broken loose from the body gusset. I believe they were eliminated on the late CJ2-A and subsequent models. BW

I can live with that! Will bolt the one on that I have.. although this looks like its factory made and was never spot welded .. might have came off another vehicle type.

Tiny's jeep had them both broken off, but still bolted to the frame, when we started. We bolted them to the gusset where the spot-welds had been pulled off so that we could make sure they were in the right position to re-weld them. In the end, we left them bolted on both ends so there could be some movement without breaking them off again. BW

Many folks have just cut a chunk out of an old tire sidewall for the body mount rubber.

Thought about doing something like that, but for a couple of bucks I can have everything match up regards thickness on those 4 rear body mounts.
On another subject, were the 4 original bolts seen in the tub round head bolts? My floorboards were so rusted out the original bolts were long gone. Bruce, going to bolt mine on both ends to! Edited by mkoloc - 13 Aug. 2018 at 4:44am |

These are a couple of pics of the toe board bracket, one from a stock 46 the other from a 3a tub put on yrs ago. The bracket is riveted on in both yrs for GIF, one thing I didn't realize till after, is the small holes next to the bracket on the toe board are for the gas line bracket. What are they for on the passenger side?(as in your pic) Also notice on my late 48 frame there is no threaded hole to mount the bracket. Was considering tack welding. Also the bolt heads look right for the floor in front not sure about the bed Joe W
