Joe great pic and info regards fuel line bracket .. thinking Willys used the same die for stamping out the support ... just depended on which way it was bent regards driver or passenger side application.  Just an educated guess Smile.

Moving along after rebuilding  the steering nuckles on the 42 ... had the death wobble ... both nuckles were at 6 lbs pull at the onset ..should be between 14-17 lbs  ..shim pack fixed that.  Still waiting on funding for the movie ... hurry up and wait!!

Working on wiring on the 47.  Installed my footman loops on the tailgate ..almost finished with the main wire harness.  Hope to start her up by next week.  Also received my Harrison heater today (dtd 1948) in great shape with the exception of one mounting bracket, a easy fabrication.  Came apart very nicely except for the fan blade set screw, it was broken off and I had to drill it out.  Easy fix with a tap.  Sandblasting all the body components and I dropped the heater core off to have a bud check it out for leaks.

Very blessed regards my collection, Thank you.   No, not going to happen regards the rail!  Its just a temporary structure that I put up for storage and besides that, I'm the only one who uses it. Per FAA regs, none of it can be attached to the building.  I promise to be careful!! Big smile

Lots of regulations when using a Hanger as they are subsidized by the FFA. Not allowed to paint in my hanger, cannot attach any structures to the hanger walls unless its approved, has a building permit etc., etc., etc. For a temp structure like I built for storage as long as its not attached I don't have to jump through the proverbial hoops. Pilots or others may no longer sleep overnight in a hanger. Lots of folks that I know are burned up about that one as they use their hangers to camp out in when flying between cities to save bucks. Lots of hangers are built out with showers and sleeping accommodations. Puts a crimp in your fun.

Lots of stuff seems to have changed over the years. The upstairs bed room was for the pilot to sleep in or for the husband to go to when his wife kicked him out.

What if it's not subsidized by the FAA?  Can you tell the "We know what's good for you" government to pack sand in that case?

Well. that sort of sucks. We used to do wedding receptions, birthdays and all out in a hanger. One time I had to drag a doctor off of the dance floor. Fun things from my past.

It's its gotten very touchy.  Starting next month I'm subleasing my hanger from a buddy of mine because I don't have an aircraft!!! He picked up my lease and subleases back to me so I don't have to move. He has two aircraft and we assigned one of his aircraft tailnumbers to my hanger although he parks both aircraft in his own hanger.  The pilots in my complex worked it all out so that I could stay there.  They like what I'm doing and have stated to me that I have the coolest toys on the airport complex Embarrassed .

It sounds like you have your life under control. As far as planes go I have piloted several. I just don't have the paperwork.

What?, a P-51 Mustang would really complete the collection!    The reason I 'm posting is to give a little warning about installing the Harrison heater, I like yourself am a "one man show". One, make sure your windshield brackets are installed before putting in the heater, it's a tight fit(mine was anyhow), might want to leave the emergency brake bracket(under the dash) lose if you can, mine rested right next to it. It's a little tricky getting all the mounts to line up(lot of fit up). You could have an entirely different install, but mine took some doing. Joe W

Thanks for the pointers Joe.  W Brackets are installed,  and by chance I had not yet tightened up my parking brake mount ... Will install the heater and then tighten it up just in case I need the wiggle room.

I found after scratching the fresh paint a couple different times is to lift it up under the dash with the hose nipples angled down toward the floor then roll it up into position.  I would suggest to try a couple practice installs before you paint the heater for the final install.  I didn't  have to loosen anything to install mine but I did place a soft rag on the bottom edge of the dash just in case I rubbed it causing another paint job.

Jim ... thank you for the advice... will make that my install technique!!
The edge of the dash is sharp .... might even split a small piece of hose lengthwise and fit it over the dash edge.

Traveling obligations and family have kept me out of the shop last three weeks.. took inlaws on a trip to Kona, Hawaii  to celebrate their wedding aniversary (57 years) and their 75th birthdays. High school sweethearts and great folks, it was a pleasure taking them there to celebrate.

All my wiring in under the dash and gauges, speedometer with the exception of temp guage are installed and wired in, not sure what happened there but ordered wrong temp guage, new one in by Monday.  Turn signals work as rear signals are mounted.  It was nice to see them flashing! Also installed my fuel tank, wiring and fuel lines.

Finished fabricating a new bracket for my Harrison heater and removed the caged nuts to fit the front plate under the dash.  Marked out the openings for the core inlet/outlet on the firewall and the third mounting bolt.  Will drill those out this weekend. Fitting it all up before painting and installing the unit per the advice of others!

Spent the afternonn mounting new tires and tubes on my halftrack.  Can't wait to take her for a spin.  Have a show at the airfield in October and two parades in November.  If you'll notice, had the engine running when I took these pics (fanblades)
