Forgot to mention when sandblasting the rims, came across this on the inner rim. Just wondering if anyone can explain the numbers stamped? Thanks in advance!

Looks like a 16" wheel that is 4.50 wide and somebody else will have to chime in on the 69.

Finally was able to spend some time in the shop. Wasn't really in the mood to finish up the sandblasting, maybe a couple of hours left. I moved on to get the axels installed. I need to get the frame moved so I can get the golf cart out and my spoiled daughter off my back! (Girls high school golf team) What was I thinking when I started this project!
Rear axels installed, shimmed and end play all good. Started to pre-pack the Rzeppa joints with JD cornhead grease. Grease gun had other intentions, grease everywhere! Have never really had good luck with them. |

Looks great and definitely coming along at a quick pace. Congrats.
I too have a Willy's history with my father. Folks from Toledo, OH, they have an affinity. Dad picked up a 49 Willy's in about 1960 or so off a studio lot. Used by Micky Rooney in a TV Series. Growing up he coached little league, the Tigers, and the team would show up to games on the Willy's. As we grew up, he didn't drive it for years. I bugged him for over a decade to let me fix it up. Finally I got my own 50, though it was a modified streeter in my guess - 283, Holley 4B, Torker I manifold, turbodrive 2-speed auto. Rebuilt engine, new tranny (should have gotten the 7004-R), electrical, etc. Runs well, way over-powered. Anyway, took me a few years to fix it up and of course Dad says, "why didn't you every do anything with mine." Thus I worked on the old Tiger. A couple weeks ago, just picked up a CJ2A. Needs new MC, but all else thus far is good. Glad we have such great history with such an incredible company that did so much for America. |
