I have a bad habit of not stopping when it first becomes stuck! If it will still move I keep trying until it’s reeeeaallly stuck...if you going to do something don’t do it half way!LOL

I want to hear your story on getting the D8 out??

I know when the big yellow stuff gets stuck its tough to remove.
When I was in high school the neighbor got his D7 stuck in a swamp (coincidently Only about mile from where my jeep was stuck)Ha ha Anyway my dad broke the 1” winch line on his D7 try to winch it out,my grandpa also lived near by a brought his old D7 down, after a bunch of work with one pulling and one winching they finally got it out. Luckily there were D7s in the neighborhoodClap

Spun the tracks in sand while pulling a 24' tandem disc.  We were opening some ground for a hay field.   Pulled it out with an Alice Chalmers HD21.  In soft ground  I spun down.  We laced cable around large wood posts and through the tracks and clamped it.  That gave enough support to get out.  The cable and posts were expendable.  The D8 and both scrapers were cable units, so we had cable.

Drove the two miles to Dads...
Fill gas tank........
Fill t-case.....
Dad’s jeep..not mine again!!LOL

Mount up.

Today’s adventure we drove some county roads on the way to the trails.

This was the first long run for Dad’s jeep, he said he would try and keep up....... when we hit the pavement the next thing I know Dad up and passed me!!!

I thought I’d let him by and then use my over-drive to over take him.... Didn’t happen because he was going 55 mph!!!!!

More to come...

Only about 6 miles of pavement and we’re back on gravel.

Into the desert we go.

We stopped to look at some old sheet metal, looked like the rear portion of a model T we could make out a door opening and hinges.

Then a few miles down the dusty trail we stopped and looked at this windmill.

After looking at the windmill we drove a few miles and hit a main trail, you may have heard of it... The Oregon trail!

Eastern Oregon lazy-boy chair!

We headed down the trail to another spring.

Onward

We turned off the main trail and headed to the top of tub mountain, which is a pretty steep climb.

This part was a real scramble to get over!

We continued our climb to the top.

It was a warm day with temps close to 100* and Dad’s 2a started getting hot on the last climb, so he pulled off and removed the chaff screen from the grill to get more air flow.

One of my favorite things about a flatfender is the tailgate.
We ate our lunches and enjoyed the view.

After lunch Dad discovered his battery had come loose and the generator pulley was about to saw a hole in it!
A bit of bailing wire fixed that.

Back down to the Oregon trail.

I ask Dad if he wanted to trade Jeeps for a while which was fun.....for a while,it didn’t take long to confirm Dads seat needs more foam it felt like sitting on the gas tank!! Ha ha

End of the trail for this adventure.
Thanks for following along.

Ah,yes. Essential tools—baling wire, pliers, crescent wrench, and a hammer. And electrical and duct tape.  Handle a lot of small problems
