Also, just the cool cool horns mounted on the pyramid of heavy metal at the front of the Jeep. Maybe something left over from a Road Warrior movie. Love that kind of wacky stuff.

Not sure how you do It, I have a hard time keeping up with one Jeep let alone eleven of them, but I don't have the parts dept you have. Big smile Love that you just go out and grab the perfect hood that you need with the perfect hinge setup.

We’re redoing the inside of our barn and removing all the horse panels, my tractor is to big to fit in the barn so I had to back the jeep into the barn and pull the panels out. Clap

Ruger thought this was great fun and tried to ride on the panels as I pulled them LOL

Hey Ben,
I noticed another vehicle that has always been special to me that you have on the farm besides the Jeeps.
Tell me about your Ford Hiboy. I have a couple of 77's. :-)

Hey, Ben: While I enjoy seeing the beautiful scenery of Moab, southwest Colorado, and the Rubicon on the 2A page.com, I think your Oregon sky shots - and the vistas on your ranch in general - are simply dramatic. Thanks for sharing, and it's always great to see Willys jeeps on the job.

Hey Mike
Glad to hear your a fellow Highboy fan!
About 20 years ago while driving up and down some country back roads with my girlfriend, I spotted my 74 green ford sitting behind a barn.
A few years later we got married and I started looking to buy a highboy after looking at a couple I couldn’t afford, I suddenly remembered seeing the green one, It took me a while to find what road it was on.
I stopped and asked if the guy wanted to sell it, he said yep.
It was quite the pile of junk!
Blue shag carpet and ran like crap.
I limped the old 360 along for a few years, hauling a pickup camper and flat towing my 2a finished the old motor off.
It now has a built 460.
I took this pic while at my Dads Saturday.

In the shop for a oil change and carb adjustment.

According to the odometer we’ve put 138 miles on it since January. Other than a few trips to my Dads 1 mile away, that’s a LOT of farm miles!!!

With winter weather coming I needed a way to keep the rain and snow off the seats in desert Dog.
Because it gets used on a daily basis I like to have it parked close to the house.so having out in the hayshed is inconvenient.... plus of all things I had to move Jeeps out to put hay in the hayshed!!Confused
My first thought was to use a canvas tarp, but having to uncover it every day would be a pain.
Then it dawned on me.... put a hard top on it for the winter!!
So looking at my jeep parts inventory, I had three choices.

#1 Halfcab...but that wouldn’t cover the tools I want to leave in the back.

#2 Artic top... but that wouldn’t let me easily access the tools in the back.

#3 Koenig top... that will workClap
I decided not to use the doors, so it’s easier to get in and out and access tools. I had already stolen the rear hatch door and used on the 3B.

Pictures to follow.

Patina Jeeps that you use and enjoy them for what they were designed for is where "the Juice" is at. I am liking this more and more. Trailer queens are beautiful, but take allot of work and money to make nice. Then you don't want to use them. Stan and Jpet--------they take it to the limit LOL. I admire them, but will just follow and watch. I want to survive longer. Wink

You need a big heater with no doors. I remember in high school the many times I scraped both sides of my 48 CJ2A's windshield and shoveled out the seats before driving to school in the winter. I lived with my parents up a steep city loop. More than once I had to roll start it. Hence I parked in front facing down hill.  I had more fun in that Jeep than most vehicles I have owned. One of my high school friends had a M38a1, and he would push start me at school so I could go home. I had no idea about points, condensors, and timing. I do now. Embarrassed Keep up the good work out there on the ranch Ben! Oilly

Thanks guys.
Oilly,I really enjoy jeep stories like yours.
My Dad drove a 1950 3a to high school in northern Idaho. So I grew up hearing about how when it was cold enough and chain up all the way around he could drive on top of 3’ of snow! He always said if I ever would have fallen though it would have been there till spring!
Stories like these made me want a jeep.

Is nice to have a jeep that can be used without fear of ruining it.
I thought about this while cleaning out the bed of desert Dog before putting the top on.
It parks under a shade tree so all summer the birds pooped on and then all fall the leaves fell in it.
This is what it looked like after I unloaded all the tools and big stuff.

I thought man I’m glad I have a jeep I don’t care about!Cry
Just kidding.. if I didn’t care I wouldn’t have cleaned it out. Big smile

I thought of another story for you Ben! Back before they closed everything here in the hills we would follow old logging trails. One day I decided to short cut from one trail to another on a hill side that was covered with Ponderosa pine. Pines have what is called needle cast. They shed the older needles on the lower part of the branches. This particular hill side was heavily wooded and the brown dead pine needles were about 3-4 inches deep. The slope was doable and I headed across. I found out those needles are like driving in snow or ice. I slid down hill with very little I could do to go back up. I ended up with a tree in front, behind, and below the Jeep, trapped. I cut the front tree down with a hand saw. (Another learning experience. ) Luckily the tree did not fall on the Jeep. So, avoid needles my friend. LOL
