There’s a range fire burning to the west of us,so we’ve had a lot of smoke the last few days.
It really blocked out the sun a few times.

My Dad contracts to the BLM to fight fire with his dozer.
He’s out on this fire and earlier this same day sent me this picture of the fire as it built and really blew up.
At this point he said they were just trying to stay out of its way!
He had to leave his dozer in a dirt spot and get to safer ground in the chase pickup!
Needless to say I don’t think he enjoyed the sunset.

That's a great picture Ben. It tells a story. The old Desert Dog is a working jeep, driven by a working man.
I love it!

I have seen your posts about getting stuck in the pasture etc with that great winch and nothing to hook on to. I am an old time mariner and I'll tell you something that I can promise you will work. A danforth anchor (make sure it is well planted or best is to actually bury it) will provide the best deadman you ever saw. Don't take much room as they lay down flat & they are not expensive at all (on the coast you can find them used for next to nothing but of course you aren't on the coast) . I'm thinking possibly start with a 20#. If that works well you could try smaller (the smaller it is the more you have to bury it 15# would probably do it).https://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/bpo/d/edmonds-danforth-fluke-anchor-chain/7186484929.html

Would have never thought I’d have a use for a boat anchor!
