OK, here we go. This run started 11 years ago, as a weekend trip. Really only one day, as some of us arrived Friday night, we toured on Saturday, and most wanted to get headed home after breakfast on Sunday. A short run was done on Sunday for those who didn't have a long haul to get home. Over the years, folks have wanted to arrive earlier, and that's been fine with me. The last couple of years, some of us have been arriving on the Tuesday preceding, and last year when I got there, folks from far away were there waiting for me. So, I'm going to show Tuesday July 17th as the official first day this year, although it may be just a set-up-camp-and-get-acquainted day. If anyone wants to arrive earlier, just say the word and I'll be there. We will break camp and head for home on Sunday, July 22nd. And, if anyone wants to stay another day or two, I'm up for that too.
I'm hoping to find some new trails this year, and have a new campsite in mind. I need to do some scouting of trails and campsites yet, but I have some good stuff in mind. I will scout campsites with the large rigs in mind. If you want to look at the area I have in mind, find Red Feather Lakes Village on your map, then look south of Red Feather for BelAire Lake. Just south of BelAire there are some campsites on both sides of the road that I will be scouting.
One of the trails that I wanted to run last year is on my list again this year. I hope the Forest Service can get it open for us this year. Another is considered difficult, and I've been told by some who have been there that either it's doable with a flatfender "no problems", or "no way". Nobody has said, "well, maybe". I need to scout it. I'd like a challenge, but I don't want to tear anything up. At any rate, there are plenty of good trails in the area and we will find something.
So, as always, plans are still in the works. Those who know me are not surprised. But we have time to get ready. That said, it'll be here before we know it. So.......

                     BOOGITY!BOOGITY!BOOGITY! LET'S GO JEEPIN' FOLKS!!!

Bruce, here's Bellaire Lake, with Red Feather Lakes in the background.  Looks like a typical FS fee campground just south of the lake.  Be good to check it out.

Flew around the area in my desktop Cessna 182 HP Pavilion x 360. That looks like true Jeep country to me. You must turn off at Livermore and head West eh? Oilly

Mike,  That campground is part of the BelAire Lake property and is always full and reserved well ahead of time. I think it's all State P&W and manged by some outfit back East. Censored  A little further South there is dispersed camping to be found.
Oilly,  Yep, that's correct, turn off at the Forks Hotel at Livermore, and the road is paved all the way to Red Feather.
Muley, I hope this is one you can make. We'll miss you if you don't. But, we'll jeep with you somewhere!
Lew, Try to get there a little earlier, and all the way, OK? Wink
Dave, Of course you're welcome! And so is your camera! Clap

Bruce,

I have you penciled in. I'm in the same situation as Muley. I hope I don't have to make a choice.

My wife and I plan on making it. We have a 22 ft. Cargo trailer camper and will be coming down after being in the Black Hills area.

I'm going to try and make it this year. If everything goes to plan. If I can bring enough oil to keep the yellow pile running.
