New month, new thread! BTW, anyone can start this each month. I doesn't have to be me.
I talked to ScoutPilot this morning and will soon have a new Cart W-O coming for my 2A - Yay! Edited by ndnchf - 01 Mar. 2018 at 5:06pm |

My engine guy called and I will finally ( weather permitting) pick up my motor that I have had for over 2 years and 2 different shops. I will be taking it apart (again) to install fly wheel bolts in the crank that somehow disappeared at on of the places.

I finally got a close look at the driver side front brake hose and did not like what I saw. Both the hose and S line are rough. I'm leaning closer to an 11" brake upgrade...

Finished buttoning up the 11" (46 Willys Truck) "sidegrade" on Ol' Red. I call it a "sidegrade" because it really isn't a "upgrade" strictly speaking. '46 trucks had 11" brakes but they aren't self adjusting, therefore "sidegrade". They have only 2 adjusting points on each wheel instead of the 4 that are on the 9" CJ-2A setup. I consider that an improvement as the 4 adjusting points were always a PITA for me.
Tomorrow, I bleed and adjust the brakes and take her out for a "test fire" er...test drive... Weather is supposed to be in the 60's in southeast Kansas for the next few days...I could see putting some mid-winter milage on the ol' girl. |

This arrived on my doorstep today. I need to figure out how to mount it on the rear without any modifications to the body and allow for easy removal to access the tailgate. I want to get a Jerry can back there too. I have to track down the actual tools.

Finally got to working on my '48 wagon. Needed a new brake cylinder on the rear and some new shoes. Bled everything out and took her for a spin. First time I've driven her in over a year. Felt great! Waiting on a few more parts to button up the seats and then I'll be cruising around again.

After shoveling three or four inches of snow out of the driveway, I pulled the tarp off the Jeep and fired her up. After thirty minutes of doing doughnuts in the neighborhood, I took her up in the hills.
Damn these things are fun. Micah |

Fronts are Big O 235/75/15 studded snow tires. Rears are the same but a different brand.
Snow is just about melted away already. Gad I got out when I did. Micah

Rebuilt two Trico motors. They actually tested well! For my fist attempt, I'm pleased!

Did you have a rebuild kit? What is involved in rebuilding one? Pictures?

I got the slope section of the Left Fender ready for Primer (I had to add to the front edge of this section to straighten it out it had a big curve in) This was the worst Fender section originally so its got a wee bit more filler on it then the rest. I also finished up both the right and left inside Wheel House pieces both ready for Hi Build primer.
Next up are the fronts of the Wheel Houses. I'm not going to be as picky as they will be mostly behind the seats. Just going to make sure no edges etc. |

I found NOS rebuild kits on Ebay. I was quite surprised to see they shipped from Greece. Anyway, they are pretty simple little devices. It's basically just replacing gaskets, the wiper and some felt washers. There are a few brass bits that are simple to drive out and replace. They really are clever devices. I didn't take any pics other than this one of the disassembles motors. I stripped the paint and gave the housings a mild polish. |

Today, I guess it is what I didn't get done... While bleeding the rear brakes starting with the right rear brake, everything seemed to be going well and I happened to glance over at the left rear wheel. Brake fluid was running down the backing plate and onto the tire and floor. OK, no biggie, I probably just forgot to close off the bleeder screw... umm, no... it's tight. Well, crap...where's the brake fluid coming from? Turns out I twisted the line in to right at the flare fitting. Ok, no biggie, I'll take the line off, run down to O'Reilly's get a new line and tweek it a little bit and get back to the job of bleeding the brakes... Umm, no...the other end of the broken line will not come out of the brass tee at the axle housing. Rounded off the nut (yes, I was using a line wrench!) and it still wouldn't come out! What ever Bubba tightened that line up with must have used a cheater on the wrench a mile long. I gave up and have a new fitting on order and as long as I was replacing that I ordered a new rear hose to boot. So...No ride on a nice day in my favorite mode of transportation... Maybe in a couple of days...one can always hope... |

This weekend I got the SM420 almost fully disassembled, and cleaned up. (only thing left is to press off the gears from mainshaft, I might wait until I get the backordered one from Novak). I plan to start assembly of what I can, until the mainshaft shows up.

I got the new tub put on today for trial mounting. Going to mount the rest of the trial fit of the body parts this week.
Shout out to MD Juan for the new tub with VERY little adjustment needed! In total only about 15 minutes of work to get the tub mounted is a good estimate. |

Dropped off the windshield inner at the custom auto glass shop. Picked up the re-upholstered seats - BRITISH TAN waxed canvas. Lookin' good.
Next - finish exhaust. |
