This one followed me home. I'm a military vehicle guy, so my experience is limited to the MBT or the T3, nothing with a tailgate.
So here is what little I know: 1. 1992 on the frame 2. Data plate four holes, but Bantam plate is in lower, not upper holes. 3. Lunette eye and casting, leg and hooks and chains, no fulton coupler 4. Hole for blackout light switch 5. Holes for hand brake 6. 4 hooks on each side, one on tail gate, one on front panel and one reversed on front panel for cable 7. Combat rims 8. Spring shackles riveted to frame 9. Leaf spring shackle U shaped, not flat bar 10. Drain plug cover welded in bed 11. Tail gate looks original, hinges bad, chains bad, latch cobbled on 13. No tail lights, but brackets attached to frame 14 stake pockets decent, one bolted in place, not welded 15. Metal hoop bows, not wood. no holes for mounting side boards Now you know what I know. Original paint looked to be red. I know you guys don't want to hear it here, but I'm leaning towards putting some hand brake parts on it, keeping the tail gate, putting NDT tires on it, keeping the lunette eye and using it behind my WWII jeep. Maybe "normal" tarp cover, maybe open, maybe chuck wagon tarp, although the military would never have had one of those in this size. Interested in what you think and advice along the way. Welcome! You can find a lot of supporting information to guide you on what you have. Also visit Arts trailer website: http://bantamt3c.com/ It's always possible that a previous owner (PO) changed things around, i.e. swapped in a lunette vs. a coupler, added latches vs. the original chain hook hole used for securing the tailgate, maybe even adding a tie-down hook to the tailgate. While this could be an early civilian, I'm more inclined to guess it could be a military that had a tailgate cut into the rear panel. I've seen some ingenious alterations done to trailers to meet the owner's needs. So, as this is your trailer, what you do to it is up to you! Pictures would be nice!

Great instructions on this forum.
At the bottom, there is a section called 'Suggestions' and within you'll find a "How To" topic. Go there and visit the Posting Pictures Sticky. Each time you post, there's a row of editing buttons above, and the one for images looks like a tree (between the "Upload File" and "Upload Movie" buttons). Reading the Sticky will help on sizing and storing here on the Forum.

Welcome to the page...You have a 45 Bantam T3C - congrats!
If you are familiar with the Military T3 there should be an ACM number under the frt driver side spring mount. What is this number and the data plate number? Can you email me unedited pictures and a close up of the data plate for the database? 48cj2a@sbcglobal.net If you really want a MBT or T3 I'd advertise this for a swap. Hate to to see an early trailer modified to Military as much as the Military guys would hate to see an original modded to Civilian. Never the less its your trailer and at least anything bolted on in the original holes are easily reversed. |

I'll send photos direct. I have compressed them for web site posting in my folder, so they are what they are. The 1882 number in the title is the number stamped on the underside of the frame rail by the spring hanger. No military date plate, just the cut off Bantam logo on the two lower holes of the original four holes on the tub front panel. This plate is riveted to the lower two holes.
Lunette eye, no fulton coupler, so no stamped markings or numbers on the coupler. Draw bar casting may have number on it that I won't see until I start dissasembly. Draw bar casting has zirc fitting on the side of the receiver for the lunette eye, so I think it is M100 casting, not T3 or MBT, but I haven't done the research on it yet. Yes, I would be up for a trade. Right dog in the right home makes sense. But, I think I've got the more unique item, so the MBT or T3 would have to be in as nice a shape or nice, IMO. I've already bought new military style tail lights for this trailer and the hand brake parts are available. I swing both ways on the chuck wagon tarp look for a military trailer. The hoops are probably aftermarket or another vendor IMO as everything I can find is steam bent wood hoops, not metal formed hoops. And, again, no holes for mounting side slats. Learning about these things is half the fun. |

The data plate silver or non painted rectangle should read MODEL T3-C SERIAL XXXX.
You may need to lightly scrub the area to visually see it. I do not dispute the 1882 but all the ACM numbers I've collected so far have been 15XXXX series. Here is my data plate for reference:

Cleaning up the combat rims. Initial paint removed and waiting for media to sandblast them. They are a lot better than most of the combat rims I have seen in the military vehicle world.
From under the fender and on some hub parts, the original color was Prarie Green. It's been red and OD green at a minimum since then.
