I picked up Seth's PTO guard at "The Great WILLYS Picnic". It will soon go from this:

To this:

Just because he deserves it!

I will update as it progresses.

You are a good man Seth. Thanks for all your efforts on "The Great WILLYS Picnic"!

I have refurbished worse than Seth's little jewel.
The one in the "To This" photo originally looked like this:

Hey Seth,
I have been "tinkering" on your PTO shield over the past couple of weeks. I must say I have made some good progress roughing it back into shape. I also have the top tab about fabricated so now it is on to sandblast, finish straightening on the anvil, welding and final paint.
Here are some shots of the progress.

Looking great. And a very nice gesture on your part. Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up It's the type of thing that makes me love the JEEP hobby and the people in it. I'm not sure you see this type camaraderie in other car collector circles.

As promised I have an update on Seth's PTO Shield progress. I have fit it to my PTO gearbox to be sure all the mating surfaces & bolt holes are in proper alignment. All final massaging has taken place in order to assure a smooth surface & shield has had all repair welding done along with sandblasting of the surfaces. Now the upper tab will be installed and the shield will be primed, final sanded and a coat of black etch primer will be applied. I will include photos at that point. Once Seth receives his "like new shield" he can apply gloss black top coat to it as is or continue the process of sanding and smoothing if he is "persnickety" and then top coat it.
Here are some shots of Seth's sand blasted shield bolted to my gearbox. during alignment.

Hi Bob!
No this is one that Seth had in his garage that I picked up at "The Great WILLYS Picnic".
The one I got from you went to a gent in Connecticut. It came out nicely & he was very happy. Here are some photos of when I got it and the end product.

I have requests for two more if you know where I might find a couple of beat up originals that I can rework!

Well after a trying couple of months I finally got back to Seth's PTO shield.
After returning from "The Great WILLYS Picnic my father-in-law & good friend took ill and spent the better part of June and into July in the hospital before he passed away. Unfortunately this project had to be sidelined while we made the arrangements and helped out my bride & my wonderful mother-in-law with their loss.
With that said I finally finished Seth's Shield and am ready to return it to him shortly.
Here are some shots of the end result.

Seth's PTO shield is to right in the photos with my NOS Shield at the left.

I think it is a big improvement from what it was to start:

Beautiful work, there G. Well done.

Sorry about your father in law. That's a tough one. I'm glad that you were fortunate enough to be close to and have a good relationship with him. Many folks don't have that with their in laws.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I have dealt with inlaws and animal friends and they all rip your heart out.
