Installed the lever for an overdrive today and had to completely rework the mounting bracket. Had to cut the bracket and weld it back with the fulcrum 1/2" to the rear and probably 3/8" toward the center. Then drill a new hole for the clevis higher than the original and hope it will work. Anyone else have a problem like this. Hard to see in the pictures.

Where did the lever come from? I have a complete OD unit and linkage from Herm but have not installed it as yet. |

I've had to do the same at times, depending on the application. Looks like a nice job!

You didn’t use the two spacers that go under the mounting bracket? I first thought I was going to have to the same thing. Didn’t fit right, but then I looked at the instructions and saw the spacers and longer bolts that are provided to accommodate the spacers. Worked perfect with no alteration needed.

The original Warn and Husky overdrives had a different bracket, one for the 4 speed and one for the 3 speed. All the Saturn brackets I have had didn't fit either.
Sounds like rick found the trick.

The directions showed a different bracket with spacers.

I used the two washer spacers under the bracket and had no clearing problems. I also used a better home-made heavy duty linkage made out of thick round stock. The linkage in the kit was way too flimsy and bent before the overdrive shifted. The round stock does not flex and makes the shift a lot smoother. After all said and done I still had to bend the shift lever itself so it would not hit the dash when engaging it. The shift lever kit is a good starting point but definitely needs some fine tuning to be perfect.

The linkage seems to be HD, the bracket in the picture is different than the one sent and it came with no shims.

that’s the identical linkage rod I have. What transmission/transfer case do you have? What lever kit (part #) did you purchase?

T90/D18, as far as I know it came with the new overdrive, it's not mine but I'll check.
