Otto - I agree that seems like a great price for the dipping of tub.
Barry - The tie rod flip will be part of the complete front axle build - Seems to make sense to do.  It will raise the tie rods 1.5 to 2 inches.

Thoughts on the Big Willy spring skid plates.  - for the extra $60 have them weld them up.  I welded them (really, Really weld them good - because they are going to get bashed on rocks) and had to cut the shock mounting studs off because the shoulder on the stud when allowed to self fixture (shank up against the mounting hole) is to short for the shock to fit on.  After cutting the stud flush, the inner part of the stud had to be driven out after much effort (back to that great welding).  Then I took a section of 5/8 rod and made some replacements that would use cotter pins.  But they would not fit into the holes without reaming the shock mount holes in the spring plates and - - turning down the 5/8" rod in the lathe.  So, 4 hours later I have saved $52 and have customer modified Big Willys Spring skid plates - that are still not painted or mounted on the 1946.  They are super nice and I did get some extra welding time in which is always good.

Edit - Self fixturing is a design process that allows for parts to only be assembled correctly for welding.  Some manufactures design their product that way so they don't require welding fixtures and improve quality.  Bad assumption on my part that these were self fixturing.

Dealing with the supply chain mess / delays.

Tires  - 5 STA Super Tractions (+TR15 tube and flaps) -  Ordered tires, only to get a note that they were unavailableConfused.  Reordered them from KW.  Now waiting to see if that order gets filled.

Radiator (copper - "very correct" should say "very expensive") - Ordered from KW.  Got a note that it was out of stockConfused.  Did not cancel the order - Just let it ride.  Got a note last night that it is shippingTongue - Now waiting to see when and what actually shows.

Lock Right for a Dana 44/41 rear 10 spline (2415LR) - Ordered it only to find out that they are out of stock at the manufacture warehouse until June Confused.  Cancelled the order.  Got a tip and ordered one on the Big AClap.  It is suppose to be in stock.  Again - will have to see what or if it shows.

Could be the issue - that would explain their unavailability.  Wll post a picture of the tires (assuming they ship) they are once mounted.

Much of the physically larger items that K-W shows in their catalog are actually drop shipped from the distributor. I wouldn't be surprised if the tires you ordered from K-W are shipped from Coker. (Eventually!)

BTW, I am happy with my STA tires...but I got them two years ago directly from Coker. They are a good all-round tire, not to noisy on the road and provide good traction off road. I don't rock climb, but every other offroad situation is fair game.

Latest update on shipping:

Tires - KW does not have them in stock even know they represent them as being in stock on their website when you place the order.  Cancelled the order with them - after they never showed.  They say the called and left me a VM on my Cell (that is with me 24/7- got no VM).  ETA now is 30 to 45 days.

Radiator from KW still has not shown up, been almost 2 weeks.  They say it shipped 8 days ago and say it should be here in 2 or 3 days.   Should have purchased this from White Owl Parts at least they are straight about what is going on.

Lock Right - is here!  Drive Train Parts out of Las Vegas guys were Awesome help!

Tubes and Flaps are here!

Good information to know - that KW represents things as in stock that they don't have in stock.

The radiator is here!  Which is fantastic - It was starting to look like we had reached the end of the road for new copper radiators.

Still no tires - do have painted rims, TR-15 tubes and flaps.  This stuff is all for the 1949.

Thanks Bob.

Hanging more junk on the back of the 1946 Trail Jeep.

Rear headlamp with rock guard - tucked up above reinforce bumperette and under the water can.  Actually gives off a lot of light.  I have been wanting to do this for a while.

The light is mounted to the water can mount and the guard is mounted to the bumperette.  There is clearance between the light and inner bumperette reinforcement also.

Crazy thoughts - We are in the process of buying a farm (have a contract / possession in Sept) and the restored 1948 "Farm Jeep" that has been too nice to drive down a gravel road or transport on an open trailer (don't want to get bugs on the paint or rain on it) --- just might get put into service.  We have the NOS grass shields + chaff screen, Ted has shipped the Monroe lift (will need to be gone though and installed in the 1948), it has working rear PTO with Novi governor and a front PTO Winch.  There are parts for the overload spring that need some work but the hard parts are there.

It seems like a crazy idea to put a restored farm Jeep to work - even light work but I expect that it will end up on the farm one way or another in a few years.  The tillable acres are rented, so it will not see any plowing.

Willys dumped the 1948 Leftys into the farm market and sent off to war in Israel that year to get them off of the streets with the tire sticking out in traffic.  Seems fitting to put one back on a farm.

Just Crazy thoughts - for now.

Not crazy, you'll be using the Willys for what it was originally built for. You will just have to clean it up good on Saturday night to drive into town on Sunday.

What about using the '46 for the chores?  The slow transfer case might really come in handy.

I agree the lower gears in the 1946 are nice.  The Monroe has a pump that mounts to the front of the oil pan and turns all of the time.  It requires the frame spacers the move the bump stops down so the pump does not get damaged by the front axles articulation.  Probably a pain to remove for outings.

Perhaps lower gears are in the 1948s future.

The Monroe should be in this week.  My plan is to send the metal out and have it stripped and then repaint it.

Does anyone know the lengths/ sizes of the 4 hydraulic lines the Monroe lift uses?  Depending on the shape they are in the may need to be replaced.

Just picked up the crated with the Monroe Lift from the local Fastenal.  Super to be able to use them as a 3PL.
