why would they rust? nothing else is rusting with all the oil in there and the paint coming off of the springs
is going in the oil pan and clogging the oil float pickup screen.

Richard, I think cpt logger was joking...and you're right about paint flaking off the valve springs and clogging the oil drains in the block. Not good!

So now,   not only does ndnchf have to cut welds on fenders,  for this simple job,   he might want to unpaint his valve springs.  Tongue

Nope, I'll live with 'em blue. Valves are all adjusted and the cover is back on. See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil ;-)

Mostly this, also these Jeeps were often used just in one season & sat for the rest of the year. So if you lived within 20 miles of a beach, they will rust in that time. AMHIK!

Great shot, Grumpy - looks like fun! Please share a couple pics of your 3B. Is it stock or close to it?

Pulled the grill. Did some hammer and dolly work to straighten out the panels where felt attaches. Installed new felt. What a pain those staples are. Took me 3 1/2 hours to do that. Tomorrow, I will see if it has any effect on cooling.

I'm envious of that clean, flat, uncracked garage floor. Mine looks like it survived a bomb hit...
