One hub is a little longer than the other to accommodate the threaded axle stub of the Bendix axles vs the non threaded Spicer axles.
Short Hubs use 12 - 3/8-16 x 2 1/2" bolts Tall Hubs use 12 - 3/8-16 x 3" bolts
Good write up here by Sean: http://www.cj-2a.com/oldsite/hubs/index.html |

Hi Art,
Great write up! I just don't want to cut the axle to make the hubs fit. So that's why I'm looking for the tall or long hubs.

I've got a set I just pulled off a '48. They need taken apart, cleaned up, and painted, but appear to be solid. Mine has the same front axles as yours.

So I bought the hubs from Hamhog, above. Sent them to Kris Wyant, in Butte, MT, for rebuild. This is what I got back yesterday!!!! What an awesome job...if you want yours rebuilt, contact him at: wyantk@hotmail.com and he'll take care of you. The insides are awesome too! |
