They are just some cheap DRLs I wanted to try. The center light is wired to my brights. And yes, I’ve been wanting to get rid of those bumpers for years. Who uses 4x6 for bumpers. We started on the front, and then my sons welder started acting up. The new rear is similar, just 2x4 box steel. Edited by caelo4 - 04 July 2022 at 8:08pm |

That’s freaking awesome! Now that’s a flatfender. I wasn’t going to say anything cause I know everything is bigger in Texas…. But good job changing the front bumper!! Edited by Flatfender Ben - 03 July 2022 at 10:47pm |

These tires are awesome. They are going to completely change the look of this Willys. I can’t wait to mount them. Unfortunately, I just painted the wheels and I’m waiting on the tubes to come in. Here they are next to the 33x12.50s. Edited by caelo4 - 26 June 2022 at 8:48pm |

Finally got around to having the seats re upholstered. Found an old local lady that still takes on a few lighter jobs. She did good, charged $250. Don’t know if that’s fair or not. |

I put the 6.00-16 Deestones on the Rat Patrol & so far I am pleased with them. The quality seems decent (especially for the price). Granted, I only have maybe 125 in town miles on them, but so far, so good.

Red/orange or matching khaki wheels seem to be my last two choices along with the Deestone 503 7.50x16 or Coker Firestone NDT 7.50x16. The tire options are a very difficult and long lasting decision.

tires: consider STA Super Traxion (which is not what is in pic below, those are std. NDTs which are also a great choice and period correct)
lotsa forum posts here on tires so you may want to do some searching.
wheel color: since you are closest to harvest tan you should consider sunset red (orange). i used Krylon Allis Chalmers Orange Farm and Implement rattle can from Tractor Supply. |

Phase one of this Willys extreme makeover is complete. Hair, and clothes, check. Next up is are new shoes. Any suggestions? I’m definitely going to a 16x4.5 reproduction wheel, probably MD Juan. I’ve read good things. But I’m still a little on the fence with tires. 7.50x16 should fit nicely with the wider front axle. Also, any input on color choice for the wheels would be helpful. I’m finished with the tub. It had a good deal of body filler covering up a bunch of dents, holes and a few old patch jobs. I took it all down to bare metal and painted it with 76 years of character on full display. Luckily there was hardly any rust. |

The full roll cage installed by the PO meant the inner windshield adjustable bracket would not fit. For 3 years now I’ve been wanting to get the fold out feature back to functional again. I used gas struts with low profile brackets to get everything to fit in the limited space I had available. It only has the one position, but it works smooth as silk with both closing and opening. |
