Our local flat fender club is participating in the Spotsylvania Christmas parade on Saturday.  The theme is "Twas the night before Christmas". I've built a carboard fireplace with chimney that sits behind my half cab facing rearward.  It has stockings hung, a glass of milk on the mantle and a plate of cookies for Santa.  Behind it will be my little trailer with a lighted tree and presents.  Other club members will follow, each with a load of presents.
1948 CJ2A - It goes nowhere fast, but anywhere slow.

I got the old rubber peeled off these wheels I will be putting on Thumper with 7.50-16 NDT's. The tires that were on these wheels were stamped 1951. My original plan was to sandblast the wheels and paint them. After power washing them I've decided I REALLY like the patina. So they are going to stay just as they are.

The "internally lit" presents look nice,  even in tough photo conditions . .  I bet they are really impressive in person!

I will be participating in a parade on Sunday.   I will be pulling a Bantam "float".   I was not planning to decorate Wilson too much,  other than some ribbons etc.   but I like the way you added lights to follow contour of tub.   How did you attach those?

I doubt I have time to add those,  a busy weekend,  but it would be cool to do if possible.

Since I was using just running lights during the parade I got tickled when I heard one lady comment on the electrified lantern...." I love the headLIGHT"

And since they put me ahead of a line of side by sides I overheard three or four "oh, that's an old Willys!"... (nice there were a few who knew what they were looking at)

All in all I agree that not much decoration is needed. ..(and that mine was on the virge of 'ratty', but we had fun)

I would advise keeping it simple and recognizable.

The use of Roll bars in civilian Jeeps goes back into the 40's. By the time my parents were going to Jamboree's in the early 60's they wouldn't let you compete in any of the events without a roll bar Helmet and seat belts. This photo is from a Feb 1948 Pop Mech mag article.

So Chads roll bar is totally period just the way it is.

I have a rollbar in 'Southpaw' Mark but that picture (and attending period/rollbar discussion) is Ron's Jeep (JeepFever).

I think the idea Ol'Unreliable was trying to convey was the look of an old Willys 'factory type' photo....which wouldn't have had a rollbar.

Replaced my emergency brake cable today with what I think is an original style cable. Let oil gravity feed through the housing overnite and installed today.  One more little victory.
While I was installing the new cable, my guard dog was watching my back.

Pulled the body off my CJ5 project. Just easier to do Suspension, brake and exhaust work with the body off. Goal today is to pull the drive train out so I can start the chassis work in earnest.

Maybe I'll start a build thread.....or add it to my existing thread. We'll see.

PeePaw’s garage was well represented at our local Christmas parade last night. I had Roscoe and the trailer, Steve had his 2A (pictured) and Kevin had his 65 CJ 5. I had the Mayor and the 4 ladies in the back were the Grand Marshall’s so we were right ar the front. Very fun parade. The Mayor loved your snowball idea Roc!
Hopefully I’ll get a couple of more pics up later today.

Greg
