My latest project has this brake/clutch combo master cylinder.
It leaks so I would like to replace it with a new one. Any idea what it came off of??? Also can’t figure out why it’s cast brake on the clutch side and clutch on the brake side Thanks for sharing your thoughts |

Did you purchase a certain vehicle that needs slight engine work?

With a casting # & bore size I can tell you exactly. It's what I did for 30 years & still have all of the old catalogs, buyers guides, & casting # interchange info.

I saw a V8 Jeep for sale near Las Vegas with a similar master. Thought you scooped it up.

It’s a 1960-62 Chevy truck master. Popular swap for Jeeps with hanging pedals. Advance adapters sells a master that is reversed like that for Jeeps

Sweet!!! Thanks for the info. I guess the linkage on a Chevy must be reversed.... I don’t have one to look at, but now I’m curious. Looks like amazon can get me one.

The clutch bore has no residual pressure valve like the brake bore has. The valve holds a slight pressure in the brake circuit. You don't want that residual pressure in a clutch that could keep the TOB from pulling away from the pressure plate.
Simple fix is to take the valve out and swap it to the other side, but also swap what looks like a thick black garden hose washer that is in the very forward part of the bore. You may need to hook it with a wire if it won't fall out. It is a seal for the valve. The valve is on the forward end of the coil spring. It looks like the top to an old fashioned salt shaker. |

Wow thanks for letting me know!
I definitely didn’t think of that, I will take the old one apart just to see if it’s switched. This forum is great, a lot of experience and knowledge. Thanks everyone |
