I pulled this from the dash on my CJ2a, located just above and to the left of the speedo. According to the manual, it's supposed to be the throttle control at that location, but it just seems a bit much for a simple cable. Any thoughts?
I was hooked on the Hokey Pokey, but then I turned myself around.

Part of a locking throttle cable control. Set the throttle where you want it and turn the knob to lock it. Turn it back to unlock it.  BW

Excellent! I knew I could count on you guys. Now the question is, does it require a special throttle cable and/or knob. The throttle cable I bought looks just like any other garden variety cable.

The locking type throttle cables are different than the non-locking

My 48 CJ2A has a NOVI Governor and has this type throttle Cable so don't know if they went hand in hand when factory assembled.

The Governor locking piece looks like this: (the nut is on backwards)

I'm pretty sure that the portion of the cable that the knob fastens to is special for this, and your garden variriety cable may work but would not lock. I think I have a complete cable of the locking variety. I'll look and post a pic if I do.   BW

Yep, essentially the same principle as the parking brake. I haven't seen any of these for sale anywhere so I may just have to wing it with garden variety.

If you don't want it I am sure someone on here would buy it, just list it in the  'For Sale' section.
