Anyone going out on I 70? It is currently closed West of Denver at Glenwood Springs for 6 mud slides. No estimated reopening time.

Steve, you might consider jumping up to I80 if it isn't too far out of the way for you.  I70 has been a real mess for the last few weeks through Glenwood canyon and has been closed on and off many times.  They are closing it every time the forecast calls for rain now.  There is a detour when it closes up through Steamboat but it will add about 3 hours to your trip.  Meet Jeff in Cheyenne and drive with him!  Have a great trip!

I'm staying in Goodland Kansas tonight. I have reservations in Pallisade Colorado tomorrow. I'll check the closure status in the morning. If its still closed I'll cancel my reservation and, head north on I 25 up to I 80.

Well, I’m getting pretty close to deciding on a packing design:

The ammo can is my kitchen (canned goods, coffee, pop tarts, small cook stove, etc. the OD pouch in front of it is my electrical shop (wire, ends, fluke meter, fuses, etc. )

Spare tire is full of things like industrial garbage bags/spill kit, power tools, chord, whatever)

Duffle bag has two sleeping bags, two hammocks, plows,

Fuel, air compressor on right side. Couple chairs behind the seat. Also left a little space for last minute things I didn’t think of:

New tires on the truck, new tires on the trailer, grass is mowed, think I might leave work a little early tomorrow, pick up the grandson and relax a little before the start of the trek on Friday.

If you find yourself anywhere near Fort Collins (between Denver and Cheyenne) and need anything or a place to crash, I'm your guy - just let me know.  970-449-9975

Hey Jeff, How many gallons of gas do you think your V6 will burn through? I see you have a big extra green tank on board.

I just don't know where we are going to put all our crap. I may have to make my co-driver run behind with a full military back pack, of course the miserable bugger might make me do the same when he is driving!

I don’t think I will need to use any of it. I’m just being safe. It’s only a 5 gallon tank. I was just going to put a couple gallons in it to keep the weight down but I’ll just fill it and if you need extra fuel, I’ll give you some.
