Was great meeting you last week and thanks again for the donated wheels. I was able to get her home a lot easier with those. Now she sits at my prop house with my other projects and props while I start researching my first steps! |

Thanks, She is def a Frankenstein. The guy who had it before my buddy did apparently cut the tub right after the dash and then welded (Poorly) on a MB tub, You can see it in the pic below. My goal over all is to do a MB tribute with this jeep but i'm already certain ill need to replace the entire tub. |

Yup, I'm in West Cobb but the jeep is at my movie prop house/fabrication shop off Fulton Industrial. Just easier to work on it there.

Welcome! Looks like you have a good place to start. Numbers will help with the ID, engine, frame, serial. Pictures we need more of them. Get it going and stopping and have fun with it. Lots of info on this page. A good book helps or several of them. An early shop manual will help. Another good one is "Jeep CJ Rebuilder's Manual 1946 to 1971" by Moses Ludel. Keep us posted on your journey with this Jeep.

Welcome to the forum TK It was nice meeting you last week, I'm glad the tires and wheels helped you get get it home. The tires on the jeep were "only flat on the bottom" which is the attitude you need for continuing your plan for your jeep, get it running and get some wind thru your hair ASAP. Keep the pictures/questions coming!

I see the frame mounted bell crank with an zoomed view. It's a Frankenstein for sure, but a good project. I wonder what gear ratio it has 5:38 or 4:88?

The steering bell crank is mounted to the front crossmember, so it looks 2A to me. Of course, it could have been modified by a PO. The rear upper shock mounts would be an easy ID point, too.

The frame could be either a war MB or CJ2A. Without more pictures, it's impossible to make an accurate determination. A machine gun mounting plate and cross member would be deciding factors.

The frame looks 2A-like; is it possibly just an MB/GPW tub and rear axle on a 2A frame? The hood and grille and windshield frame (fenders too?) look to be 2A, but I see that Bubba just hacked a hole for the gas filler. Still, it's a start!

The other things I saw were: the shape and width of the seat backs which are not 2A, and I think in the 2nd pic, the rear wheel tubs look to be the extended ones for the WW2 ammo/toolboxes near the back of body? |

What is the serial number? The pictures give the impression your rig may actually be a late 45 or early 46. The tool indents and full-floating rear axles are a tel tale sign of an early CJ2; however, the pictures also reveal there is no tail gate causing me to believe your rig my actually be a war time GPW or Willys MB. Looks in really great shape. I'm wondering if some parts of it are WW2 ? ..which if true, I think that adds to it's character.
