It seemed odd to post to the 2020 Spring Willys Reunion "Cancelled" thread - > about current upcoming activity . .   so I created this thread.

Who is planning on being at Southington Ohio this weekend?   June 5-6-7

I am planning to arrive on Friday,  and leave either Saturday,  or Sunday,  depending on what everyone else is doing.  It is approx 7 hour drive for me.

From posts on Spring Willys Reunion thread,  and some conversations,  this is what I know about others.

Jpet            -      arrive Friday,  leave Saturday after wheeling
Millennium Falcon - attending
BarryS        -        attending
Waddle       -         attending - attempting to arrive early for electric camping spot
JeepFever   -         attending - arrive Friday hopefully fairly early, leave Sunday, not sure on time
drm101 - maybe
Ruffy - out . . . mechanical issues
TN21         -        attending   arriving late Friday,  save a camping spot.  :-)
BobEvans - out  . .    Jeep Jamboree prep
Nofender - out . .   helping daughter move

I will update this opening post as we know more.

As a reference,  the Southington Offroad Park is near Aurora, OH and might be a good place for those attending the Spring Willys Reunion to do some offroading prior to the reunion.

We have found it very difficult to contact anyone about getting special permission to wheel the park on a non "public" weekend.

Going this weekend might give a chance to find some contacts.   :-)

Originally I was a go, over last few days I’ve noticed a clunk every time I shifted into first or reverse from a stop, and a growl that’s been getting louder. Last night found the pinion bearing looks to be on its way out. So I’m out for this weekend. If you do get some info about private runs let me know. I’m about 3 hours away and I have a buddy that lives 30 minutes away.

The private run we are hoping for would be once a year,  the day before Spring Reunion in May

I just talked to my nephew, who lives near the park.  He is interested in riding shotgun with me.  Can't wait.  Smile

Do not want to jinx it,  but weather forecast is looking decent. . .  who else might want to join us?

I’ll be there. Rolling in late Friday night for camping. Save me a spot if you guys get some sites together. I doubt to make it there before registration closes that evening but hope I can settle up with whoever Saturday morning. I emailed the park, but no response yet. I plan on staying til sometime Sunday.

The site says wheeling is open on Saturday but not Friday. I wonder if that is a hard rule.

So much we are unsure of.   As far as arrival time,  I am planning to be in the area around 2:00-3:00 in afternoon.   Hard to plan too precisely from this far away.    The website says registration starts at 5:00,  so not sure what we would do prior to that,  if they are gated off etc.     For me,  I could go visit some friends or family.    If we wanted to all get together, before 5:00  on option might be to go to the Nelson Ledges state park,  only a few miles away.    I would not mind scouting it out as a destination for 2021 Reunion "road ride".

Camping,  the website says 16 electric sites, first-come first-served.    For the rest of us,  looking at a "satellite" map,  there appears to be a big parking lot on site.   I plan to sleep in tow vehicle, so that would work for me.  If everyone else is doing same we could "camp" together in the parking lot.   It would be nice to all camp together.   If anyone is planning tent etc.   the website mentions "unlimited camping",  so I assume that means we can find a spot somewhere on property to park trailers, pitch tents?

Hope you guys have fun, should be a great wheelin' weekend.  Lot's of chatter on the local 4WD Facebook page, so I think it may be pretty crowded.

I was wondering about how crowded it might be. .  hopefully not a parking lot,  waiting to get to good obstacles.  Shocked

edit:   I am going to PM my phone# to those of you who do not already have it.   Maybe we could start a group txt.  tomorrow.   (those who get there first can give us a scouting report Smile )
