found some super heavy rubber stairtreads at Ocean State Job Lot for $6 each. they fit on top of the wheel wells very well. now i can toss my chainsaws in without worry of oil/gas/paint chips/etc.

Barry S (Barrys Builds) did a nice write up on his bikini top. i chose to use snaps (lots cheaper) and cut up an old, existing vinyl BesTop for the teeni bikini, very small. in retrospect, i would go with the common sense (C/S) fasteners as many others here have done. i knew i could easily replace the snaps, but for anyone reading, go with the C/S. i do like using cam buckle straps (not ratchet straps) and velcro the way i did as i can really get the top super tight and i can easily fully remove the straps when i remove the top.

Normandy Blue?

the PO, my father in-law, sent me this special chunk of metal:

it was originally off of 72568. appears to be Normandy Blue with some bondo.

i also found some info that leads to an engine number of 807763 (not the original motor).

it does not appear that it is possible to submit this info to the database. anyone know if submissions are being taken? it currently, and for quite some time, has shown as offline.

working on chaff guard. cleaned rust off edges with soft wire wheel and a dremel versa power cleaner which worked quite well. then put 1st brush coat of POR-15 on edges. both layers of screen are galvanized so i will not do anything to them. will mask the screen and spray rattle can bedliner for the final finish.

Shocked Bedliner? I don't think I would. All the bedliner I've seen is thick, 'way thicker than paint. I would think it would plug up the screen, or at least reduce the size of the openings. There are some here that will tell you that the screen alone will restrict air flow enough that the L134 will overheat at the slightest provocation. (I'm not one of them Wink)

the screen will be masked. bedliner will only be on the trim to reduce rattle on contact with the grill and reduce rust re-occurrance.

that (plugging the screen) is also why i did not apply primer paint to the screen. it is galvanized anyway so it doesn't need paint.

running thru the woods so i don't want a stick in the radiator. read concerns regarding the reduction of airflow. i suppose it would as open surface area directly in front of radiator is reduced. but as i am in Maine, the temps are not normally super high. we will see.
