The wife came out to the shop to help me with my mirror brackets when all of a sudden she managed to throw her left leg into Chug and with no help shuffle her butt on to the seat. She looked quite proud of her self. First time in the 17 years Chug has been mine she has sat in it. To the best of my knowledge. We been trying to figure out steps and step stools and all manner of crap to help her get in. Now it looks like will just make a 6" thick platform for her to stand on. Turns out a big part of the problem was her not feeling stable. When helping her out with a 12" sq platform 6" high will be all she needs. I can attach it to Chug with some nice 2" wide webbing I have and she can pull it up and we stow it in the back.getting out she really doesn't need it.

She has been so worried as she really wants to do the Adventuring I have planned. Today was a big deal for her!

Good to hear.  Figure out easiest way for her to get herself in and you can both enjoy the fun.   Congrats

I am very happy to hear this. I am very proud of your wife, and am glad that she will be with you on these trips!

Having my wife with me is one of the great joys I get out of my Jeeps & motorcycles.

I know what this means to you. I am 3 years into building a couple of Flat Fender Jeeps, now have one ready for the road. The initial intention was of using one for the trout fishing trips me and my wife love, but she has yet to attempt getting into one even though the topic comes up often.

She has had both knees replaced, one of them wore out and the pads had to be replaced last year. She can't get around as well as I can, and I have had my left knee replaced. I have a some trouble getting in to the little Jeeps myself though I can manage it.

I recently started a build of a CJ5 because they are a bit easier to get in and out of especially with a step. At least that is how I justified a third projectWink

Glad to here it, and I'm excited for you both. I love adventures, but I also love to hear other's stories and look forward to that.  I also like the excuse, I mean idea of a CJ5, because "it's easier for you, Honey." I just need to figure a good way to pitch that.

Just tell her you are building Jeep for her so you can both have some fun, and offer to paint it her favorite color.

I am lucky that my wife wanted bright yellow, or green. It will probably come out tan or forest green since I don't know much about mixing paint LOL

I was worried she would want one of those shades of pink which women always have odd names for, like "salmon", "watermelon" or "blush".

I joke with her about what men would name colors.

The trim in our downstairs bathroom which I remodeled to look like a 1920's bathroom complete with claw foot tub and pedestal sink is Masking Tape Blue (the darker one). I came up with that color made a 6" square of masking tape and had the girl scan it LOL.

Gents,
I'm rocking two hip replacements, and struggle a little getting into my CJ2a Snakeskin. But Seth's steps are really useful! Highly recommended!
M38 resto is 3/4 done, but no steps planned for it. Just planning to jump in; hips are doing great!
Have an M38a1 preservation underway too; significantly easier to get my aged patoot into that rig.hope to have all three drivers by June.
Wife is far more spry, and has ridden in Snakeskin and enjoyed it. M38 and M38a1 should be a piece of cake for her. Lucky duck!
Grandkids ( 3 and 5 yrs) launch themselves into the rigs, and have a great time. They're what keeps me turning wrenches!
Keep on jeepin'

Hi John,

Haven't forgotten about the brakes for your M38A1, just haven't removed them from the axle yet. Weather has cleared up a bit, so maybe this weekend.
