Yes, a real service or shop manual is important. First thing I do when I start working on a particular vehicle is to obtain a real one.

I have a reprint of the Jeep service manual covering my CJ5 and it has all the information you need.

I have an old "Motors" manual covering my earlier Jeeps plus a couple of other military manuals.

I have two Chilton manuals that came with the two 1967 Jeeps I have. I would give one away to the first person who asked for it. They are better than nothing, but they aren't a real service manual.
If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!
