Ill de compress them before installing so wont be too bad. Alost building new shackels so things will line up better... Should end up with about a 2in lift when done

Boomer,
I just had mine re-arched a couple of weeks ago by a place in town. I believe she came up nearly two inches. I went with the M38-A1 shackles.

there are several ways to re arch a leaf spring.... Back in the late 60s early 70s I was just finishing up HS and was also racing jeeps in the willamate Valley in Ore. I went to work part time for a guy that had a shop that only worked on jeep. he was big into racing and had lots of work. My first job that he gave me to do was re arching springs, a seven lb custom made hammer and a 250 lb anvil.... he showed me how to beat on the spring the right way. Ill bet I did at least one set of springs a week for over a year. He also showed me how to de arch the springs after re arching them. A process that uslly takes place after they are installed and then weigh is put on them to settle them to what ever arch is wanted. the way I did mine today were in my press. make a jig that fits and only allows you to go so far with each press you do, starting near the center of the spring moving to the ends rince and repeat.

My experience with re-arched springs has been if you actually use the Jeep, they don't stay re-arched for very long.

I will agree with ya 100% on that but.... we found out that if you over re arch springs and then compress them some they stay a lot longer..... back in the day when I was racing and really hard on running them that I could get a least a couple years out of re arching the way we did it. If you just use the jeep on a more normal driving (not hitting the stops at high speed) Iv seen them stay in place for several years. A rule of thumb we used was if you wanted a finished lift of 2 in rearch them at 5 in and then slowly add weight or chain them down to a dead man till the jeep sets at the hight you want it works a lot better..

Boomer,
Had I known you were the "spring whisperer" i would have brought mine over to you. The shop in town was a little confused on what to do with my old springs. Thankfully, they seem to be working put well. Time will tell. Micah

Thanks. I took them to John's on Sunshine Lane. They just sold the place to a younger guy who happens to be working on a M38. He had not done a set of old Jeep springs. The former owner came over and helped him out.
