I think I was lucky to snag most of an early 1945 CJ2A today. Serial number 10313. This would be the 313th civilian Jeep to come off the assembly line. Unfortunately, I got about half a Jeep.

I’m not sure if Jeep disease has taken over my brain or if I did something noble.

I did score some early VEC parts; full float rear end, square washer windshield with MB pivots and a side shift transmission case.

I’m not convinced a six hour drive and $1500 was good judgement or plain crazy.

I think you got a good deal, I know I’d be excited about it. What’s the serial number?
Edit: Looks like 10313

Maybe you just needed a good adventure, some excitement.. In my experience, the money is just secondary. God bless you still have the energy and ability to drive 6 hours for half a Jeep! Hope it made/makes you happy Big smile

Cool!  Do you have the linkage to the transmission?  I would love to see photos of the yoke ends as they attach to the arms extending from the transmission case.

    Lunacy for certain !!

     Now, I don't have much room to talk because i purchased a '46 2a for "yard-art" in Dec 2017.
Since then, for my adventures I tell the wife i am going in search of Willy's Parts for sanity.

From what I have learned since joining this forum and snooping on the g503, the VEC's are rare.

Have fun fiddling with your parts and pieces.

Are the engine, transmission, and transfer case original? If so, I'd say you got a pretty good deal.

1t really doesn't make any difference.  if you have the money and the passion for old jeeps theirs no problem . I have only regretted selling most of the jeeps i have once owned and wished i still have.

BTW, I think the deal is solid.

Transmission appears to be original. Dated 4-5-45. Unfortunately pretty rusty inside. Thanks for the support from everyone. It seems I’m not as crazy as I thought.
