What is a DJ? The only spotter guide I have is the KaiserWillys catalogue (and something I saw on a thread in this forum.

The Dj was two wheel drive only jeep made for deliveries of mail and other things around town. It is fairly common for them to have been converted to four wheel drive later.
Edit: I would concur with Athawks statement completely about it being a DJ, you also have the carb setup from a DJ with the Yf carb instead of the wo carter

Do not use the Kaiser-Willys catalogue as a reference source. It will tell you wrong. BW

It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

You’re correct about a 3a but yours is a dj3a. Was original a 2 wheel drive jeep. They used the same fame so it was easy to swap to 4 wd. Body had a few differences like no tailgate on some models.

Your photo shows the engine casting number. It is consistent with most CJ2A blocks, but the serial number would be more helpful. You can find the engine serial number on the flat boss just behind the water pump. If the number is no longer there, this is an indication that the block may have gone through a rebuild.
Location of engine serial...

A rebuild may very well be the case as there is no serial number at the location you've outlined.
(That is one beautiful picture of a very clean engine!)

Here's some info on DJ's: Personally for me, the KW catalog (and website ) is just one source which must be compared/analyzed with other sources to verify accuracy.

Posting photos that I assume will confirm this body tub is a DJ-3A. Would you concur?

What I'm seeing and in the context of the DJ-3A resources kindly provide by Rus Curtis:
-that looks like a heater box to me under the passenger side dashboard with two hoses coming out of the firewall - one which goes into the rear top of the engine head and the other goes into a radiator hose. -there is no toolbox underneath the passenger seat. -with the hardware on the steering column, makes me wonder about a former column shifter perhaps? -the screw pattern on the turn lights
