Anyone have any experience with Plastic dip? I want to know if it would hold up on a shift knob? I'm thinking a couple coats might be nice on my hard Micarta shift knob.

I did exactly that.  The small knobs on my transfer case looked bad.  I had to invert and then turn upright to keep the dip from forming a "drip" until dry.  I thought they looked good.

Then I needed to get the knobs off the shifters.  Since that required an abundance of persuasion, I ruined the dip coating.  The shifters now have replacement knobs.

Knowing what I now know, I'd have mad sure the knobs would come off first - then coat.

I think that dip comes in a spray now.

I've used it to re-coat handles on some hand tools and used it to coat the grip portion of three pieces of 1" steel bar (1.6KG) that I created as implements to help my son with his track and field discus training. He still uses them to train the throwers that he helps some 20 years later.

Applied correctly, it will last a long time. Just my 2 cents.

Mark, I would have expected you to have a Chromium Plated, Fully Illuminated, Gen-You-Wine Aksessory Shift Knob threaded on there. WinkBig smile But knowing you and Chug, the micarta is no surprise.
