Changing out the cowl seal on the windshield- any pointers to make this easy and turn out good. New CJ2A seal came with new to me SBC 48 2A. Jeep had 3A or 3B style seal partially installed.

Put a washer under the screws that hold it to the windshield frame. Just large enough to fit in the recess molded in the rubber. This will help keep the screw from pulling through the rubber.

I don't have any pointers other than to say I have yet to find a new made CJ2A seal that fits correctly.
The one on my CJ2A right now is way too thick. So, I will be interested in how your's turns out.

I bought 4 different ones from 5 different places for my 3A windshield didn't like anyone of them. Made due with the closest to fitting. Good luck on your 2A search.

And I think I got mine off summit, plenty of rubber but the few I have bought have been too thick, which is a problem I'd rather have to it being too thin

I bought rock auto, seems OK but not great. . The only thing I can say is do what the General says and use a washer but do not screw to tight. it could add stress to the rubber and could cause cracking at every screw location that can be seen .

I 100% agree with this. While the fit was good on the one I just bought, the washers spread out the "stretch." Instead of it being pulled against teh sharp threads of the screw, the edges of the washer push against the cutout for the screw. That is hard to describe, but I bought stainless washers that fit perfectly into the relief for the screw and it made it more forgiving to pull to align the screws. There were a couple screw holes at each end as you turn the corner that put a lot of tension on the rubber.

Hello all,
I have an MD Juan kit and will be fitting the frame to cowl soon. I just prepped it for paint. I've been searching posts for installation for dummies but cannot find it. I'm looking to find some good instructions for screwing it to the frame, preferable a picture or two of how it should look. I see pictures of it in place with the windshield up which hides what I'm after. I'd rather not ruin it the first two or three times I try. Any suggestions?

First, use pan head screws that will be slightly larger than the recesses in the rubber.
Second. You will probably have to stretch the seal to align some of the holes in it with those on the windshield frame. Start from the center screw and stretch the seal as needed to match up as you go along. This will give a better fitment than if you start at one end and go all the way across in one direction. You do not need to bury the screws into the rubber of the seal. Stop when they just snug up against their seat at the bottom of the recess made for them in the seal. Going too far spreads the seal giving it a bulge at that spot.
