I would double-check that before I ordered. The M38 floor is different.

I called them today, they claim it is the same.  Anyone see any problems with that? I may order from them if its the same since they're kind of local to me.

As Bruce said, the M38 floor and CJ-2A floors are different. The hat channels may be the same.

I used the Midwest Military hat channels for 2- CJ3As.  The fit was excellent.   3A and 2A floors are almost identical so I'm pretty sure these channels will fit nicely on a 2A.

Isn’t there a little metal tab with a hole that would go where the notch is?

Exactly, that's why I was surprised not to see one on there.

Just a little more work. Was thinking it would be a good place to tack it to the brace that will be behind it.

Was going to ask how you did yours but remembered you did different on your steps.

I made a tab for Tiny’s side panel, it came just like yours, roc. Note the hole in the tab is not centered vertically, and if I remember right, it’s above center on one side of the jeep and below center on the other side.

I'm gonna have to get some pictures eventually, both of my steps have been messed with before I got the jeep.

Do you remember if you tacked the panel to the inner brace first or did you just start with putting the tab on ?

The tab was put on after the panel was welded in place.

Thanks Bruce.

Anybody got any good closeups of this area of the step?

These are from "Real Deal"'s '49 CJ2-A. It's on my lift and was the easiest to get to. I looked at 5 other 2-A's and a 3B and they all look about the same. The hole is above center on the left and below center on the right side. The left tab seems to slope uphill a bit on all of them. The right tab is usually straighter, but not always perfect.
Why the hole? I think this little strap was scrap from some other part manufacture. Maybe not even a jeep part, but something else being made by ACM.

Could use 2" corner brackets from the hardware store if you don't mind having two holes.

That's what I think too. And I also like the idea that it was a 'leftover' from something. On that same note, you can tell that the V notch was cut in there in such a way that after folding it helped form the step...quite ingenious.

Thanks for the measurements and pics Bruce....after tearing off some metal I found a remnent of the tab...(just the part surrounding the hole) but not enough left to determine size...Thanks!  Thumbs Up

Is the hole in the tab left over from the axe handle loop on the MB? I recall learning a thing or two playing around installing the tools.
