Just curious
For those of you that have converted from the original split setup, what can you offer as a suggestion for my '48 2A? I have a tie rod out of a mid seventies that I planned on shortening to use since a two hole knuckle are made from unobtanium at best. Plan on keeping the original box for now, have a manual saginaw box plans for the future. Edited by jeeper50 - 02 July 2022 at 4:54pm |

Sorry for the delay
Yes they are vintage Jackmans 15 x 8s I always wanted a set back in the 70s for my CJ5, but the wallet couldn't make it happen, so when I found these on a FC for sale I made an offer and got them shipped to me from NV. Here's a pic of the ornament, it was made by my oldest Son, Matt who passed away in 2020. I will take a better pic this afternoon. Edited by jeeper50 - 07 July 2022 at 10:06am |

Used the threads on the ECJ5 forum for most of my info. Cut the donor tie rod to 35.5 inches long, bought a set of tie rod ends from QTM and used the long link off my 2A for the rod from the bellcrank to R/H tie rod. I bought a R/H thread 11/16- 18 thread tap online. Had a friend from work thread the donor rod after cutting it shorter, used a touch of never seize on the tie rod ends. Adjust toe in and went for a drive. Easy peasy fix!
