wife had to run into Salem to ship something so we ran in in Chug. Then a ride in the country. A stop at a little country store and an estate sale then home before the heat hits.

I fixed (literally; it was completely unattached) the driver's side seat cushion to the frame with wires, since the wood is too far gone to hold screws anymore. Worked ok; the seat still wiggles a little but at least you can't see the wires unless you bend down and look at the underside of the seat.
Next I'm going to repair the torn vinyl on the seat cushions with duct tape, replacing the missing chunks of foam with cotton or similar, then I'll find some seat covers I like and put them on there. Not as good as original or restored original seats, but much better looking than torn seats with chunks of the foam missing in places, which is how I bought the truck. |

Testing the Rat patrol in the hot weather.
It does amazingly well, considering it still has the original 75 year old radiator in it. 95f+ ambient & I have yet to see it go over 190, even on long steep uphill grades. Cruises at 175-180 the majority of the time. Cool beans.

It was 91 degrees with 90% humidity. So we took the jeep into town, got gas for the pontoon boat and spent the middle of the day on , (and in), Moosehead lake.

Sounds good. Mine doesn't do that well. In 102 degree heat, it runs close to 190 pretty much all the time. Cars come up to operating temperature pretty quickly in this heat! |

Got the oil leaks on the CJ2 squared away and been using it to move brush around the property and most importantly hauling the kids around because they bug me multiple times a day for a "Jeep ride in the CJ2".

We took Popeye the Coast Guard Jeep, our '52 M38, on a cruse through town. Trey the Airedale loves to go for a Jeep ride. Our gas has come down some to $3.98 at most stations. An evening Jeep ride is the best.
