My '48 was originally black, which isn't too common.

I’ve seen a lot of pictures of maroon/red like mine is.

I have owned two 48 CJ2A Jeeps, both had several layers of paint but were originally red.

If memory serves me right, I heard somewhere that Princeton/American Black is the most uncommon factory color for a CJ2A. Most common I would agree with what others have said, Luzon Red. I've personally seen a lot more Luzon Red 2As than any other color, second most I've seen is probably Michigan Yellow
I'm not actually a poet, just an old online name I use

45 #11319 - Pasture Green
46 #35578 - Harvest Tan (Data Tags Only)

my '47 2A is Harvard red.....not listed in the paint code/chips for that year.  Has black wheels with beige pinstripe. Possible '46 hold over?

Probably the best answer to the question would be found on the database. If it were on a spreadsheet, it could be easily sorted and counted.

So Micah, Are you volunteering to make the data base into a spreadsheet? LOL

It would have to be easily updated. I am sure that there is a way to create the spreadsheet that would update as soon as the Jeep owner entered their data. The big problem is when either the data is entered incorrectly or the data is incomplete. Also one would have to address the odd ball serial numbers for the CJs themselves as well as for the engines. I am guessing that this is doable, but more work that most folks would think.

It looks like it is already in a spread sheet or at least a table. It might not take that much to put it into something like Excel if it isn’t already.

I wish I could say that I knew how to do so. Before I retired, my line of work had little to do with spreadsheets. Thankfully.

It looks like it has been a while since it was updated. I have no idea why. It would be nice to see it kept up.

I imported that data website into an Excel spreadsheet,  then did a "pivot table"

The results:

I did not look too closely at website,  but I am guessing the ones with "*",  that I grayed out,  were possibly not the original color?

So,  this is the color distribution of the approx 1,400 known '2As,    which is a small fraction of what was built,  but possibly gives some idea.

Mine wouldn’t be on the list. Judging from the layers of paint, my ‘47 left the factory a pale yellow.

Not in the data base and I don't have a SN, but my late father's 47 was picket gray with Harvard red wheels.  It was never repainted up to the point where it was traded in on a FC150 in 58.

Had a '48 tub that was emerald green. The rear floor was the only thing worth saving and it resides on my '47 that was originally yellow. ( I have '46 harvest tan bow brackets to weld on too LOL)
