A few of us spent the past week in Hurricane, UT at the Winter 4x4 Jamboree at Sand Hollow.
I'll use this thread to post up the videos I'm putting together of our trip.
Here's the first one of our run on the Double Sammy Trail. It includes some shots of my little flop and the recovery. I seem to most often flop when the camera is not on me so no actual video of the flop, but some of the recovery.

The final day of the Jamboree, I led The Relic Run. We had 20+ rigs that ran the East Rim trail. This is a 4 out of 10 rated trail, perfect for a bit of a challenge but nothing crazy.

Hi all,

Here are a few shots I took of the event:

Leads without fear:

I offered him $100 to let me winch him up the obstacle … no response

BAM BAM climbs a 40” tire:

Apparently 3 more inches is the tipping point:

Wade sending it on Horseshoe falls, which is an obstacle on Sliplock Gulch:

… this guy can’t seem to keep his wheels on the ground:

… or this guy:

… but, as they say, “what happens in Sand Hollow … gets posted on the 2A page.”

Not gonna lie, it scared me a bit as well. It's really not as straight up as it looks from this angle. I never made it up, but Jeff and Wade did. Jeff had to winch me over the top. I didn't dare give it any more that what I did here.

If you  care to click on it, this a short vid of Wade making it up from a different angle that gives a truer, although less dramatic, idea of the  slope we were dealing with.

Roll bar versus cages (in that situation) was my concern. Sideways rollovers don't concern me as much.

Just not worth the photo op for me.

Not trying to school you on anything was just a comment I should have withheld probably.

That particular obstacle is pretty scary indeed!  Here I am in 2019 trying it unsuccessfully (Stan made it up that day without a hiccup).

Sand hollow obstacle

Not gonna lie, this one got my knees shakin’; not because I almost backflipped, but because right behind this obstacle is nothing but air!  ‘Bout a mile to the bottom without anything to break the fall😵‍💫

Here is a video of Wade having fun on Milts Mile

The terrain was not near as tacky as we were use to due to the rain/snow and cold temperatures. This day was particularly wet.

Oh, man Rick. I was trying to convince Chad that I am not a crazy lunatic and then you jump in with "yes you are, and so am I." LOL

....Big smile...It's all good, you do you and I'll do me.

I'm not trying to change your mind about anything, just thinking it would be a shame if you weren't around to post videos just because you were taking unnecessary chances in making said videos.

Steep or not doesn't change the fact that a flat, backwards rollover (with just a single hoop) is crushing regardless.

Carry on.

What rear diff does Wade run?  At about 3:05 in that video he spins three tires a rev or two before his left rear starts to move.  And then at about 5:30 his left rear spins about a half turn before the right rear starts going.  It looks like he has an actual locker, not a limited slip.  But I'm not used to seeing lockers give up that much movement.

The rear has an e locker which let's go in reverse, then re-engages after so many forward revolutions.
