Anyone know of a gas cap that is slightly larger in diameter then whats listed as fitting a cj2a tank? Ive got a 8 year old repop under seat tank and lost the gas cap and every cap the parts store has said is listed as fitting is just small enough dia that the ears wont properly engage to where it will tighten up and stay on. Needing to know what vehicle to tell the parts counter guy i need a cap for thats just a bit bigger dia. The caps they sell me do fit my 55 willys pickups tank, but not this old repop tank. Thx
So many projects and so little time.

Same problem, I recently put in a new gas tank, ordered a gas cap from QTM, it would start but I had to use an oil filter wrench to tighten down all the way. Hope it loosens up with use.

My issue is the opposite..mine wont engage and tighten up. The ears on the caps im beimg told should fit are 1 7/8" wide but the filler neck needs one with ears 2 1/8 wide.

How about an early tractor fuel cap. Maybe from a John Deere A or B.

No idea what this cap was on originally but it fits my jeep. I have another cap that fits it but I am using it on an airplane. If the tank came from KW then they should have a cap that fits it.

The cap pictured came from my CJ2A. The tank it lives on is actually installed in my CJ3A which came from KW. I don’t know the history of the under seat tank in the CJ2A other than it’s a rusted out mess. I cut the filler neck off an old rusted tank and installed it in an airplane. The CJ2A has an aluminum boat tank where the back seat would be. I need to get that sorted out and back to semi-original.

It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.
