I did a search on the Getty Images site for "Willys". Getty Images is basically a clip art center for the media.

Here are some of the ones I found. Some I have seen before, others I have not.

I do not own these images, nor do I claim to.... so they all have the obligatory watermark.

Brachus,
Nice pics.  Those are really neat.  I like the one of the man putting the rear seat back into the Jeep.  Look at the chain covers on his Jeep.  They are almost the leangth of the chain itself. Hmmmm.  Anyway, thanks for the pics.

Yes, and it looks to me that the column shift knob is black on that one.

Yes, I was using my xray vision to see it on the other side of the block in the photo of the running gear being cooked.

great images. I only use getty when the customers aren't being cheapasses.

wow 3 people in the backseat! on the way to Church it looks like. also looks as though they are driving in the tractor lane or shoulder next to the road.

Most of those pictures are fairly common- but some aren't and are really interesting.

We are using one Getty image for our 2009 calendar. They are expensive to get rights too, but we've found if you 'check them out' but don't purchase for a few days, they respond back with a cheaper price. Learned that by accident, but hey.

what is really neat about these photos, is that there is a culmination of '45's, an early '46, and even a possible CJ-2...

They had some other photos, but they were from the 50's and appear to be CJ3B's

Great photos Brachus!  You should post some of them in the "Reference Photos" thread, particularly the close up ones that show decent part details.

There's are some interesting details in these.  Some confirm what we've already suspected, but some contradict:
1st photo - soft top:
  • the common sense fasteners facing outward are black, but the backing plates of those fasteners facing inward are NOT black!  Perhaps plated, or natural brass?
  • door does NOT have a hand-signal flap.
Clearly a staged photo though.  The rain drip flap is on the wrong side of the door.  You'd have a big water leak driving it that way! LOL

6th photo:
  • good view of canvas folded for storage.  Straps same color
  • MC cover plate, starter footrest & wiper vacuum tube are black, not body color
  • seat covers appear to be "water proof plastic coated fabric"

Last photo is probably also "staged" for a marketing ad.  Clearly a "curing oven" for paint:
It's an MB, not CJ-2A:
  • T-84 tranny, external contracting E-brake, H/D generator
  • Steering column, brake pads & T/C levers would all have to be removed to put the tub on!
Sean

Very interesting photos.
First picture looks to be early with the doorhandle in the rear portion of the top. The rear top bow bracket there is a tab with 2 holes what is that for and when did it end production? My SN 10064 has this. The photo looks to me to have a dust cap on the rear axle.
The photo of the man installing the rear seat, the front seat frames look to have gloss black paint on them.

lindsay, speculation is the hole disappeared either after the 1st 100, yet the speculation has also been the 1st 250 units..either case, rare thing to still see :) the rear is a strange thing with the dust cap, if that is what that is, i can see the bolts for the floating axle... in the family photo, are the headlight inners body color?  i do not see black nor chrome
