Found the eggs and moved security camera to keep an eye on them.
We are super excited for them last year i had the camera on a Ravens nest but everybody knows owls are better.
check them out and stream them all day in the corner of your desktop.
Hopefully the racoons don't get the eggs this year.
If this link is bad, it should be the first video on my channel page

Are the eggs on the ground and not in an elevated nest?  This looks like an abandoned factory or something, is that what it is?

If the nest owner's are around, the coon may become the buffet.

One can hope, plenty of coons around and hopefully the Owl has the advantage 👍🏽

Take advantage of the situation and use the eggs for bait; BBQ coon is very good!

Do those owls not make a nest?  Seems strange for the eggs to just be on the ground like that.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

Maybe it is a coon's lair.
If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!

The eggs are on level 5 of a decommissioned oil research tower atop an insulated vessel.
Generally Owls are terrible nest builders,  last year the nest was on an 8" wide I-beam in the same tower.
Last year i moved the camera to a Ravens nest that was pillaged by a racoon. video link below

Stella and I got 1 raccoon out of here.
I don't think we will be eating this one.

The OBS software crashes sometimes probably due to my aging laptop.
It might be better to go to my channel and the live stream should be the first.
Live streaming is entirely new to me.
I did add a 2nd camera today but it's about ¼ second slow.
We hope to have all the bugs worked out before they hatch.

Great Horns can be very detrimental to smaller owl populations. They are very aggressive and very habitat adaptable (like whitetail deer). Burrowing owls, for example, are very dependent on specific habitat. The GH will drive out/kill the smaller native owls. They also impact owl populations in other states as well,  but since almost everyone thinks they are cool and probably don't care what their presence means in regards to native owls you won't hear much about that. I couldn't find much in a search. I heard a report a few years ago regarding GH owls taking over territory that historically was habitat for smaller owls. That is where my comments come from. Sorry I can't offer the source. I will try to find it tomorrow.

I do remember seeing burrowing owls in prairie dog holes as a kid around this area.
But with fewer prairie dog towns due to urban sprawl and positive plague tests, Westminster and Arvada poisoned almost all of them.  I did see burrowing owls in Nebraska last year when prairie dog hunting.
I do appreciate the all natural rodent control they provide.
Picture of last years Owlet, its hard to not love them.
