I have a 46 cj2a  and was wondering if there were different styles of fuel pumps other then the glass bowl style.   My jeep came to me with a carter  fuel pump without a glass bowl and I was wondering if i should replace it or if its fine.  and if its not original what it may have come from.   Thanks  the one on there looks something like this one pictured below

Its a std replacement fuel pump. Remember these rigs are like 70+ years old. many of them might have had 5-6 different fuel pumps over the years. if you are going for a concurs restoration then you will need to find the exact brand and type of pump that came on your Jeep. Otherwise you just need a functional pump that fits and works.

As to what that one came from its most likely from the parts store.

That one is slightly different from the original, but is a very common replacement. If it works, run it.  BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

For a 2A, I prefer the glass type.  It helps me when I can see what's happening in the pump during troubleshooting issues.
