I noticed a couple things tonight going thru a couple generators. One that is out of Jeep 16xxx has a different end/oil cover than the other three I have. I can see that this early one was not near as friendly to the mechanic as the later version. The mechanic would have to guess as to how much oil was in the cover in the early one and the later version it went out an overflow vent... Also the cast iron fan was the early one from what I've found ( as opposed to the stamped steel one) again, this is from others opinions I've talked with...
640151 Generator, assembly (note 1) I don't know what note 1 is.......

Interesting find. The '45 Maintenance manuals shows the cover w/the oiling hole. Same difference has been found on starters, some have the oil hole, some don't. Replacement parts for Generator 640151 or component parts thereof will be supplied only by the Electric Auto-Lite Co., or their Service Distributors. |
