These were taken around 1956, my dad cannot remember the exact year of the Jeep.

Thanks, Fritz

Thanks for sharing these interesting period pics! Note the mods made by the owner of this 2A that's barely 10 years old--spare tire moved to the tailgate, large wheel covers, new tires, pool-ball shift knob, turn signals, front bumper weldments...and the 'S' painted over to make the jeep "Willy." And already the driver's side body near the rear wheelhouse is rusted (in the first photo). Great shots.

The mismatched tires make me smile.
As a teenager working at a gas station, I used to grab tires off out discard pole for my old Chevy. I think I had four different tires on that thing, but the price was right and I always arrived at my destination safely.

He said the first thing you did when you got a Jeep was to head to the junkyard and find some wide Chrysler? rims bc everyone wanted to ride on the beach.

To complete a great story...His brother drove it after he went into the army and then the brother made me a deal I couldn’t resist on this..

Not the same one, but close enough.

Ps Winchester Model 61, have it.

That's a great looking jeep and great story.  I have a 1946 that was originally Normandy Blue and I would love to take it back to it's original color.  Can you share the paint formula / brand you have on your jeep body and rims?

Thanks,
Dave

It is listed some place on the site.  I put up a two stage paint code eariler this year.  If you search for Normandy Blue it will show up.

Sorry, I don’t have any info on the paint specifics. The old photos look a little more black than this color, who knows? Fritz
